I am curious as to what everyone uses to do their "review" and "how to" videos and then get them on You Tube.

I am going to be making a web site for a tobacco Store that my wife works at. They sell the Joye306 and may expand to also include the Joye510. But they always get hammered with questions and that can cause a line to build up. So I figure if I do a web site that shows different things pertaining to just what they sell then they can just give the customer the web site. LOL!

But I need to know what are the recommendations as to what to use to shoot the vids. Also would it be best to try an embed them directly into the web site or to use something like You Tube?

Thanks for everyones input.

I use a Nikon D90 or Canon HV30 and do my post in Final Cut. A ridiculous amount of hardware for something on youtube, especially if you are embedding the video in a website. As far as post goes, there are some free, albeit limited, programs out there that should be enough for what you want to do.

Do you have a camcorder now? I wouldn't worry about HD or anything like that for embedded video. Any standard def camcorder would do. As far as whether it is better to embed or not to embed, I prefer that sites embed the video (especially for informative videos such as the one you will be doing) directly into the website. You can still use YouTube to host the video and then use the embed link after you have posted it on the webpage.

Thank You everybody for your input so far.

Right now I do not have a camcorder, not even a webcam. So that is the first thing I need to address I guess. DOH! Walmart does carry cheaper webcams but I do not know if people use those for those type videos. Mostly the Walmart webcams mention video for IM'ing and works with AOL Messenger, Skype, and things like that. But of course I want it for instructional vids.

So what I am getting at is recommendations on what equipment (non expensive) I will need. Also will I need a converter program. Things like that.

Now a directed question.

youtubecommercial, what programs do you use off that site to do your vids, or do you use the software that came with your cam mostly?

franklyspeaking, that software looks interesting. I may have to give it a go as I do not plan on buying software also. LOL!

Once again Thank You all.

I'm lookin to get a Kodak Zi8 HD Camera. You can do hd at 720 and 1080, 720 at 60fps, 1080 at 30fps. Can plug a mic into it or use the internal mic. Not going to use my for reviews but figured I'd pass the word on about this amazing little camera, beats the FLiP camera by a long shot, and it's still perfect pocket size.
