Cluttering up the top of my bedroom chest and tucked away in various chest and dresser drawers isn't cutting it for me anymore. All my magic potions, broom sticks, and witchcraft supplies have to go somewhere safe, organized, and out of reach of my young children.

So, I have been looking at tackle boxes (with lock). All the Plano ones have a wicked strong plastic smell that I don't want impregnating my stuff. I did find a Flambeau one that had no scent at all, but it is not configured right for syringes and small upright bottles. I'll be checking out another store tomorrow for tool boxes that might fit the bill.

I'm interested in what other DIYers, particularly those in a similar situation, have figured out for organizing their stuff.

I use Plano XL 3 tray tackle box. Works well for flavorings, syringes and all the rest of my DIY stuff. I have over 200 flavorings so I have almost out grown it. I think I will get another one just like it instead of going with a larger box. Don't worry about the box smell permeating your flavors. The flavors will permeate the box. They are considerably stronger. I use a clear large rectangular organizer box. The one with movable slots for all the PV related items, attys, cartos, batts, dt's, etc.

None of the boxes are really configured for storing the bottles upright though.

The Stanley plastic yellow and clear Box in the picture works great, it holds 30ml Bottles perfect and lots of them, available @ Home Depot :2cool:

What are the dimensions on that Stanley, mwa? Looks like it might be fairly large.

Double-sided flip box?

Digging the Folgers can BTW.

Well, I went to quite a few stores yesterday, found some really nice tackle boxes, and even a nice wooden box at Michaels (another idea I had kicking around)... but, in the end I decided instead of a big, conspicuous box in my bedroom that [in the case of a tackle box] I have to lug in and out of the closet, I grabbed a couple of those clear Plano Prolatch trays (like these) and cleared out the top drawer of the chest to put everything in (wife was completely fine with this). The top drawer is too high for any of my kids to reach, and in the future I will install a locking mechanism behind the chest for that one top drawer. The top of the chest is still the lab bench if you will, but everything gets conveniently put away into the top drawer when I'm done. I also got a matching dinner mat to protect the wood in case of spills, kind of like lab bench paper :) Not very portable, but I don’t need a mobile juice lab.

Sounds like a pretty good set up flak! I'm still trying to find my perfect mixing station here at home, it was to lonely in the spare bedroom. Wasn't comfortable doing it in the dining room where kitties could jump onto the table. So i set up in the corner of the living room (cat's dont bother me there, since i'm not doing anything different and out of the ordinary..like leaving the room.) But my husband doesnt like seeing all my boxes and trays in the corner lol.

Check these out (scroll past tool boxes)
Walmart.com: Search Results for "Stack on drawer cabinet"
I've got one of the 12 drawer ones on the way for now since I dont have a ton of things & they are affordable if i grow out of it. According to my measurements I believe 30ml bottles will fit upright in the "large" drawers

I just picked up a camo soft sided tackle box (Plano Tackle Systems). It has 4 customizable trays inside plus large pockets on the front and sides that hold large bottles upright quite well. If the pockets don't work out, the trays can be removed to hold larger bottles. I like it because I can just pull out the 'juices' tray when I need it, or the 'extra bottles' tray, or the 'extra carts/atty's' tray...I got it at Walmart for about 30 or 40 bucks.

Sweet! Once I outgrow the top chest drawer, if I don't move into the next drawer beneath, I will be looking into these options!

I went to several sporting goods stores looking at a wide variety of tackle boxes and couldn't find one I was really satisfied with for the price.

I ended up with what is marketed as an art supply tray box but it's really a tackle box and heavy like one.

Creative Options 3 Tray Storage Box

It's HUGE and holds tons of flavors and doo dads. Also when opened, if you have heavy stuff in the top trays it doesn't tip over (a problem I had with my previous tackle box). You can put a pad lock on it. I keep FA on the top, PA on the second tray, etc. (I usually have all my flavors in 3 or 6 ml bottles). It's made my time mixing much more enjoyable. Heavy and sturdy...not flimsy plastic.

If you have a Hobby Lobby by you, that's where I bought mine. Love it! It was $35.
