I think it's more important to get the site back online and stable than post excuses and reasons. Sure, it'd be nice to know why, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it if they don't say.

Tuts at Jerry - thought we had already worked it out that the power needed to light all the candles on Angus' birthday cake blew a fuse

As I told folks in live chat, there was a hard drive failure and possibly a raid issue along with that.

Rebuilding a site as large as ECF takes time when hardware goes south.

Ahhh. Hard drive issue. Makes sense. The errors looked like the board software couldn't connect to the database, which is exactly what happens when an HD goes down.

Glad you guys got it back up so quickly. Nice work!

It would have been nice if they "at the very least" set the .COM to a Barker notice stating the Forums were down. It takes 60 seconds to set up a temporary redirect to a page on another server. At least that's what every other site I've been on does when a blip in the system becomes a rebuild.

Can someone please link me to the ECF facebook page? I had searched before to see if they had one and didn't find one so assumed there was no fb page. Glad to know there is one!
