What happens sometimes?

Now and then ECF just fails to respond, and all I can do is to close the tab it's in. Can't log out or anything. Then, if I try to reconnect, I just get "connecting..." without even actually connecting. If I wait a while and go do something else, I can then reconnect after some indefinite period of time.

What is this? Server crash? Maintenance?

I am an experienced ethernaut; this does not happen anywhere else, or at most with nowhere near the frequency it does here at ECF.

This happens about every day. I simply cannot connect for let's say 30 minutes or so.
Curious.

EDIT: AHA! It's not just me. There is a hole in new posts from 3:01 to 3:15 (central USA time).
So what is it?? Reset or something?

it is as you said,Maintenance, upgrades too but it is not happening every day

This is not happening to me. I have only noticed it once a couple of days ago but I am not so sure it was ECF but rather my connection.

We had a DDOS at that time, some people would have been cut off.

There is some joker going round attacking vB forums with thousands of vB-specific search queries that overdrive MySQL and lock up the DB. Probably building up to a DDOS blackmail attempt, we've had that before

Post specific dates/times and I'll look into it. Make sure other sites are fine first, just to make sure it's not your connection. Most are probably random bits of maintenance/backups/etc.

There was a denial of service attack on ECF the other day. That might of been what caused what you experienced on one of the occasions. Some things have been tightened down so it's not as susceptible...

Yeah, I had this, too, but I assumed it was something to do with my computer. I should know better; it almost always is some problem with the host site. Alas, I don't know the times

No problems today.
