What have I bought?

I've been reading a few threads and discovering lots of model numbers and exceptionally useful information etc. and it's all very interesting. I should have read some posts here before making my first purchase, which is not at all a nice flavour and I can't seem to get a decent draw from it.

I got interested in e-cigs after reading in a non e-cig related forum a brief comment about someone using them. I googled e-cigs and I rather rashly bought one from a site in the UK. Now I'm wondering what model I may have bought as it has no markings on it whatsoever. As I said earlier, the flavour is not very nice to say the least, but I'm wondering if I could somehow use the carts and mix them with a nicer flavour and get them to work on another model which I will buy using recommendations and knowledge from this forum.

I bought 50 extra carts too from miniciggy.com - now I'm wishing I hadn't, they really are quite yuk. The model they show in the picture on their site has writing on it but mine has no writing on at all. I'm wondering if anyone else has bought one of these from this site, what model they may be, and what if anything can be done to rescue something from the purchase by using the carts with other models and mixing different e-juice with them to make them bearable.

Any help with this matter would be much appreciated.

Hi Health2thee, and welcome to ECF.

Firstly I would advise you to look down the suppliers list at the base of the main page, and note down the UK suppliers, there are plenty and all are willing to help you.

You can refill your carts with liquid, so dont worry about that too much. And dont worry about have 50 of them.. they will all come in handy in time.

The flavour in your carts is most likely some kind of tobacco. It should actually tell you on the pack of carts what it is supposed to be.

Remember, you cant replicate the taste of smoke, so its unlikely you will ever reproduce an authentic taste to resemble the ciggies you are wanting to replace.

Look on the various UK sites, and read what they have to say re their e-juice, or liquid. They will try and give you an idea what the juice tastes like. Then simply try and decide what flavour you would like to try..

You may want a crisp taste for through the day, then a sharp fruit like apple or cherry may be right for you. Evenings may change that need, and you may want to try something sweeter, or a menthol even. It is very much down to personal choice.

Then all you need to decide is the strength, and hopefully the samples you have are different strengths, so that may help you decide.

Once you have your juice, you can simply take out the poly fibre filling from the carts and wash it under the tap, leaving it on a bit of kitchen roll to dry, add some juice to the cart, ( fill about a third with juice ) then replace your poly carefully using tweezers, and top up with a few drops of juice.

I always at that point add two drops directly to the atomiser to be sure it isnt dry, and off you go...

Good Luck

The device pictured on their website looks like a DSE-901. I have one that looks exactly like one pictured and a stainless one with no writing on the atomizer. Their price is fair enough. The DSE-901 is actually a very good model. It doesn't produce as much vapor as a 510, but generally has better flavor. Keep your spent cartridges and refill them with liquid that you like better. It doesn't seem as if you've made a bad purchase at all.

If it is a 901, you will have to practice your technique to get the most out of it, but it is worth it. Once you learn to use a 901, and connect it to a decent battery, it will perform like a monster. Patience and practice. Learn to direct-inhale, and direct-drip. Consider buying a "big-battery mod", if you still need/want a bigger kick in the pants.

Juice is another matter. Taste is subjective, but vapor-production is not. ECOpure is top-shelf, high-quality juice available in the UK, and it puts out tons of vapor. Try as many different brands/flavors as you can.

I have intentionally kept this reply short to better answer your question and reduce your confusion, as you can find longer explanations for these concepts elsewhere on this forum. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask for help and advice!

Thank you for your replies, they're very much appreciated. Despite the unappealing flavour of my first foray into the e-cig world, I have good expectations about my future purchases. You see, when I did, on brand new carts, get a good draw, I thought, "yes, this will work". That, plus reading this group gives me confidence that I'll be able to swap over to e-cigs and hopefully get rid off this morning cough (hence my terrible but reminder-serving username).

If it wasn't for the bad "undertaste" of the carts I have, they wouldn't be too bad. I still have around 250 grams of tobacco here, so I'm hoping to swap between e-cig and tobacco and then move completely to e-cig while keeping 50 grams of tobacco in case of emergency.

I had a look on the bottom of the charger and the only writing I can see says:

Desan battery charger
model number DSN0023-02
That's followed by input/output volatges.

I'll be quite happy if it is a 901 and not some totally obscure brand I can do nothing with. I think I'll get a 501 next with lots of different juices. I've seen a kit that's got basically three e-cig and everything a person should need. I've got a bit of time before I need to stock up so I will definitely be reading this group more.

Petbe, when you write about all those flavours (and I'm still able to get my nicotine fix) it sounds so good I just can't wait to find a good blend. I'll definitely be looking up quasimod's recommendation for ECOpure.

Thanks again for your help. I'll get back to my reading now - cheers.

Sorry to keep replying to my own posts but there is no way to edit that I can see.

I discovered on the back of the instruction manual that it is a 901. Plus, reading something here gives me an idea it may be the atomizer being new that is producing the weird undertaste I am experiencing. Now I'm really dithering about what model to get next. I have already ordered some flavoured juice and feel really good I did not waste all that money and should be able to get some good results with a bit of experimentation. I can't wait to get off the tobacco completely - it leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. Maybe vaping might save me some money in another area as I spend a fortune on mints every week.

I have changed my username because that original one was too terrible. Thanks to SmokeyJoe for sorting that out so quickly for me. Cheers.
