I started smoking at 13 and thought I would NEVER quit. I actually had myself convinced that if I ever really did manage to quit it would only be temporary, as soon as I hit 80 I was gonna go back to smoking. That made it easier to even think about quitting. I smoked for 36 years except for the times I carried Thing #1 and Thing #2, who are beautiful, healthy, smart, obnoxious teenagers.

What motivated me to try e-cigs was that my daughter was about to go away to college, and I couldn't rationalize spending $8.28 a day for a pack of cigarettes. It was insane. Fortunately an e-cig store opened in my town, and they had purple 901 kits. It was ok, it got me off analogs...but I had found this forum and the more I read, the more I wanted an eGo. So I got a kit, ordered a purple battery and cone, and was a completely happy camper. Why would anyone want more than this? Battery lasts all day, it is consistent, where the 901 battery gets increasingly weaker until it dies, the 510 whistle-tip carts made me happy...but I had found this forum and the more I read, the more I wanted a stainless steel drip tip. So I ordered two, and after a lot of trial and error and juice running all over the place, I finally got the hang of dripping. I felt like I had found a golden ticket and was following Willie Wonka into the factory. Not only could I smell, my taste buds that had been hiding from all that tobacco smoke were now able to taste the subtle yummy flavor of my new favorite juice, Velvet Vapors Bear Claw that was a free sample in the order recently received. Why would anyone want more than this? The flavor is clear, there's no messy cartridges and filler and washing, I could sit down and try the 20 flavors that I just bought from the classifieds...but I had found this forum, and although dripping was way better than using carts, you can't really drip and drive, especially a five speed...and I knew from this forum that Super T Manufacturing had just started selling a juice feeder....wait, what's a box mod...oh, this Saber Touch thing in the classifieds is PURPLE, has my name on it...my head is spinning, must be the 6v vape!!!

The funny thing is, I've done the math, and I'm still saving money compared to what I spent on cigarettes. And I feel better, I don't stink, I haven't coughed in months, I discovered that ash trays really are gross, and so is kissing your husband that still smokes.

When I think about how my life used to revolve around making sure I had smokes, a lighter in every room (even though I didn't smoke in the house) and two in the car, and scoping out where I could go out to grab a smoke whenever I arrived at a new place, I am thankful that I found vaping, and the wonderful people who make this forum so informative, interesting, and fun!

Cheers!!!

Wow, great for you! Vaping, if given a real chance, will change your life. I also am thankful for vaping. I can't wait to get my new penstyle in the mail (after reading this, maybe i should have gotten the ego!). i HATE the smell, and so does my girlfriend, and however many other people who don't point it out. Thank god for vaping, and i'm glad you're enjoying your life much more, while upgrading your life :p

Great post. I lol'd at "Thing #1 and Thing #2." I'm a thing, and my mom (who quit cold turkey from 2 PAD, when I was 5) was thinking about investing in e-cigs for me since there weren't any signs of me quitting. Looks like I beat her to it. Haha. I've been smoking since I was 13 also, and I finally started vaping and quit analogs a month after my 28th bday. Now she enjoys watching me blow vape rings and even rates them on aesthetics. Hell, she'll even try to make me blow a ring onto water bottles. I kinda feel like a carnival game =T

Vaping is a wonderful thing for all the family to enjoy!

Other Places
I can relate to trying to find a place to smoke. I was a 2 1/2 - 4 pack a day smoker (depended on which weekday it was). If I didn't have a cig hanging out of my mouth, I was b!tch on wheels. My daughter tried to get me to buy an ecig when they first came out. I couldn't believe the price and refused to buy it. It was until a co-worker had a 510 and told me how she gave up regular cigs. I went home, bought a kit, and have loved it ever since. Now I just need to stop buying mods...LOL...my checking account is screaming at me to stop choking it to death.

Phil, you made me smile with the smoke ring comment. My 12 year old niece just had open heart surgery in October, and I stopped over to see her once she was home. There we were sitting at the kitchen table, me and her father vaping away (I converted him before the surgery) and she was sitting at the table begging me to make rings.

And that reminds me of another thing I'm thankful for...all of the vapers who are ex-smokers because of me. Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.

Glad to know I can add a smile to someone's day with a vapor ring, Brewlady. I was actually blowing rings through rings while typing up my post. Haha. It sounds like your niece is having a safe and speedy recovery from her surgery and it's nice that she's home with family before any of the major holidays came up.

I love the French waterfall. Especially with menthol e-liquid. Clears the sinuses. Lol.

Happy vapesgiving.
