Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out how to calculate the amp draw of a dual coil with twisted wire at .4 ohms.

Voltage divided by resistance will equal your current. 10.5 amps on a fresh battery of 4.2 volts.
Yes i know the normal equation to find amp draw but I believe this changes when you use twisted wire and 2 coils?

From what I've read when you use dual coils it will cut the resistance in half but your amp draw is doubled.
Does the same thing happen when using twisted wire? Is this the same amp draw as a quad coil?

Saying you can change ohms law is akin to saying you can change gravity.

If it measures out to 0.4 ohms, that's what you have. Two twisted wire 0.8 ohm coils in parallel.
The twisted wire is just how you made them become 0.8 ohm coils.

But now, just remember that ohms law is only a small part of the laws of thermodynamics, so you still have more homework to do.

The overall draw is the same. You're using the summed resistance of both coils. Your battery doesn't know how many coils you're running.
If you have an android phone you can download the vapers toolbox app to help you, but I recommend you do a little more research.
Not trying to be mean, but your info is incorrect and it would be in your best interest to read a little more.
    Best regards.
    Be safe.

    Alright never mind I understand.

I started to confuse myself because the twisted wire seemed to put out a lot more vapor and kill my batteries faster than a single wire coil at the same resistance, making me think it has a higher amp draw. Am I just imagining this?

    More efficient thermodynamics ! ! !

Don't get discouraged, were all here to help. That's what a "community" is all about.
To give you an example, a twisted pair of 32g is similar to using a single of 28g.
The current draw has nothing to do with whether it's twisted or not.
Don't let a few sharp responses, mine included, stop you from asking questions.
We were all in your shoes at one time or another.

A twisted pair will have a higher amp draw than a non twisted pair of the same gauge. You have effectively increased the gauge of the wire.
It "seems" that in some applications, twisted puts out more vapor because liquid is retained in the twists, which with proper wicking, provides more liquid present to be vaporized.
I, personally found that it popped and spit more than I liked so I gave up on twisted pairs.
I have found that I can achieve the results I want from a single micro coil with less juice usage.
