Otto Carter imparts value to the mod with his engraving skills and name but other than that the mod's performance shouldn't be effected in any way, ie it wont hit any harder than a non engraved mod.
The price is determined by the skill required to create the designs and the overall rarity of them.
Hand engraving like that is a very labor-intensive and time-consuming process and doesn't come cheap, no matter what the object engraved. With those mods you are basically paying for the artisan's time in order to have a one of a kind piece of artwork
Stuff like that is mostly geared toward collectors
Sure is about the artwork and being engraved by reputable engravers can increase the value of such items as firearms by a huge margin. Its a skill many can do, but only a small handful do well. Being an arms collector, engraved work is something I always want to see on fine firearms having the engravers mark is big price factor. Much of what we see in big stores like dicks, bass pro and others can also be stamped, but you can easily tell stamped from true engraving.
You can't put a price on art. As has been stated beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I could hang a Picasso on my wall and wouldn't be any happier than if I hung a sears portrait there but I'm not into art. It's all in the design.
One thing to remember with metal engraving is if the artist messes up its not an easy fix most engravers can roll rite through it and usually incorporate the mess up in the design so its never seen. That's what separates a good engraver from a great one. none are perfect and they all eventually mess up the ones who know what to do to fix it without any noticeable sign are top dogs. Its pretty much a lost art today with all the laser engraving and etching and stamping its just cheaper then the human being. Pretty sad IMO
