"What is that thing?"

Hello, new to the forum :)

Just wondering if I am the only one who gets a little annoyed that everytime I pull out my e-cig in public I have to answer a million questions... half of the answers are either too complicated to explain, or being as I am a newbie I can't answer them myself. Not to mention the whole "Can I try it?" which turns into an awkward... "Okay I know it's good but you're vaping all my juice GIVE IT BACK!" haha
That's being overly dramatic but I was just wondering if there are any stories or suggestions as to this situation as I am sure everyone has had to deal.

Anywho... Hello again and I look forward to making my way SLOWLY (as this is a vast vast forum) around.

I love educating people about personal vaporizers. It's a chance for use to open the eyes of a previously ignorant person (who also may be looking for an alternative to analogs). The explanation part is very simple. It's a nicotine delivery system, like a cigarette but without all the bad stuff. The only common denominator is nicotine. Instead of smoke containing 4000 carcinogens, a PV uses propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine to deliver the nicotine via vapor. And you can flavor it however you want! Want to try it? Here you go. These things taste great and are way affordable than cigarettes.

Bam. You've created a new vaper. Now you have someone to trade flavors with and talk about all the new cool stuff that's going on in the industry.

I definitely look at it as a "teaching moment" and, maybe a chance to convert a smoker. Hey, you might just save a life!

Do some reading here and elsewhere so you know the basics and can answer the common questions (besides, the more you know, the better your vaping experience will be). You can formulate some fairly quick answers to most of the basic Q's like "what is that" and "how does it work", "how much does it cost", etc. You might find it easier to point them to this forum for the big picture if they seem really curious.
I always get a little stack of business cards from the vendor whenever I buy stuff and I bet you do too. Maybe you could jot "www.e-cigarette-forum.com" on the back of those and carry them with you to hand out to prospective vape inductees.

I've only shared with my bff, my husband and my SIL. LOL! My husband, who isn't a smoker, now vapes 0 mg nic a couple of times a week. My bff? Well, I'm proud to say she has given up cigarettes and is now a full time vaper!

In the beginning, when people I didn;t know very well asked me about it, I got a little aggravated because I didn't know how to explain it very well. Then I read what members here were saying and now I'm armed with all the knowledge I need and am confident when explaining it. I have also recently ordered some spare drip tips so I can let people try it if they ever ask!

I'm so glad my sister shared with me and I want all the smokers to know that they don't have to sacrifice their lives (and $$$) to smoke. They can VAPE!

HAhaha, I too sometimes feel like a traveling e-cig saleman.

Now I carry business cards and a couple drip tip condoms (from E cig "Try Me" Condom Covers).

I'm not really suppose to, but I vape openly at work, in front of customers. I mean I use discretion but I have had a couple customers give me the whole "WTH is that thing" and a couple go "can I try that", hence the drip tip condoms.

I work almost next door to a smoke shop and I give out a filled clearomizers from time to time. One of the guys that works there, Sam, smokes 2 packs a day. It's always interesting to see his reaction. I still have a couple boxes Phoenix bottom coils that I now rarely use. I figure some should vape them.

All in all it has always been a good experience. I've even had one guy go over to that smoke shop and by a disposable e-cig. I've had couple others ask me what to buy; I grab the iPad for 'work' and show them a couple sites. It can be annoying sometimes, but when I'm at work it's fare better than actually working.

I haven't been able to use mine in public yet because I'm very shy and socially anxious and I am afraid to attract any kind of attention, even if it's positive! But it ends up with me only vaping in my own car or just very sneakily stealth-vaping and that looks even worse if I got caught. So far nobody has asked me or caught me stealth vaping.

Hi, ya, it's so frustrating sometimes for me! I am so excited to not be smoking butts, and it's hard to explain to others because you want them to be excited to, in a way, but they don't get it. Here is what i do, I really really go off, my first words are "this is a smokers dream come true". I can smoke without smoking!!!!! I will vape until the day I die and if you want to find out why, then you go to Ecig forum . com and do the homework.and BTW, your homework will never, ever, end...... :} lots to learn, keep on the forum and make sure you join CASAA, like immediatly.
