What is the best battery mod for the 901?

Hey All,

I am a pretty heavy vaper and am getting pretty tired of swapping out batteries all the time. I am looking for the best battery mod for the 901. I have looked at the BB, The Chuck, The Protoge, and the Chameleon and am wondering what is the general thoughts about these? Do I need to kick up to the 5-6V range or would a solid 3.7 work? I am looking for good battery live size and build quality. I know that this is subject to personal opinion but I am jsut wondering what the general concensus is. Thanks in advance.

I have no other mods to compare it to but I love my GLV 5v from greatlakesvapor.com. So far I am amazed when compared to my 901. The batteries(5v uses 2 at a time) last me 8-10 hours and I vape constantly. If you're going to spend the money, I would also make the jump to 5v at the same time. The 5v goes through juice faster so I also made an adapter to use cartos which last longer.

You can't search glv, nothing will come up (something to do with searching only 3 letters). Check out the threads and reviews on Great Lakes Vapor in the supplier section of the forum.

If you're at all handy, you can make a mod. I have no other mods to compare to either, but I love my big chuck. I don't think you could find anything better as far as build quality.At 3.7 volts with an ultrafire 18650 3000mah you get 2 days battery life, even if you vape fairly heavy. At 6 volts with 2 rcr123's i get 1+ days. Try cartos on it. cartos are wonderful at 6 volts.

I'm using a Silver Bullet at 3.7 volts and really like it a lot. I vape all day on 1 - 18650 and there is still plenty of power. I swap by bat every night so I don't really have any idea how much longer it would go.

The SB is a beautiful piece of hardware and I would highly recommend it.
I just got a BB for my wife and that is also a work of art.

I've never used a 901 so I can't help you there but I am using the 510 and cartos and both work great in the SB an BB. I think I'm going to be using the cartos more, they last a lot longer than the 501 carts and just seem to be more convenient.

I also have a Chuck on order that I plan to use at 6 volts with cartos.

just get the dse-905. It's a 901 on steroids and uses the 901 attys and carts. I just got one and I'm very impressed to say the least. It's not a HV but a very long lasting 3.7V PV. I chain vape on 1 battery for about 6-7 hours.
It's also VERY affordable at MadVapes and a couple others $39

My only concern with the chuck is the button, I like the flush look on the BB and worry that I could "set" the chuck off in my pocket or something

I have to agree with zoomie61. I love my dse905. Battery lasts a good 7-8 hours of heavy vaping. 14500 900mah 3.7V batts small enough to carry it in my pocket. I use it with the 901 attys, 510 attys with adapter and greencig cartos with kr8 adapter. Get the best out of 3 ecigs. $39.99 at madvapes.com and batteries are less than $5.00 each. Hard to beat.

What I hated about the 905 was that it is voltage regulated. (Well that and self immolation mode.) It will never be over 3.7 volts. My standard batteries gave me more vape. Though I've not done it yet, am considering building my own. It couldn't be worse. I like my 901s way better than the 905.

If you wan't the best and most versatile unit go for GGts will take any battery and atomizer on the market in one unit, not cheap but no solder or button problems will last a life time, i have spent a fortune on rubbish and can not fault the GG

Any of the reputable batt mods work rather well. If you're a "heavy Vaper," I think you might enjoy one of the models that at least gives you the option of going high volt. I went 5 to 6 volt and never looked back, high volt means high vape in my book. You will hear that the HV mods are juice hogs and in some ways they are, mostly because it take more juice to make more vapor.

I did not care much for the dse905 and sold it. I think the screwdriver by trog is a great 3.7v device if that is what you want and you can get it with the 901 fitting. If you want the high voltage option there are many good units available. I have heard good things about the SB but you will need to include an adapter to use the 901. I think that my next HV purchase will be a prodigy but you would not have the 3.7v option with it. I have an xhaler right now and it is a pretty good unit.

IMHO (JUST my opinion) if 3.7 is satisfying you, stay there. (I love the button on the BB. I want a Chuck with a BB button)

Hubby built me a 6V box and now I can't use 3.7; it feels like I'm not getting anything.

I'm not complaining, I cherish my box, and he made it beautiful, but I'll never be able to just pull out a regular battery and use it again (And I have half a dozen pretty purple ones sitting in a box...somewhere)

He made himself a 4.2 so our regular batteries are forsaken and alone

Just a thought.

I would have to agree the the GGTS is the most versatile regarding the various types of batteries that it can use. I have one and I love it but I do have to say it is quite costly (but worth it, at least to me). I am also quite happy with the battery life of my 5v GLV.

I just received my Magnum from Inhaler with its mega battery so I will have to use it for a while to see what the battery life is.

Due to costs (I have spent a ton my first month vaping) I have decided to start with a 3.7 and order the KR Lazer. I am still very interested in the chuck and the BB but am gonna wait and see how big my bonus is next month....Thank you all for your input I love reading the varying opinions in this forum

I started with a dse 901 and moved up to the screwdriver. Ive been using it for a month now and just ordered a second one in case this one ever drops/fails, but so far seems very sturdy and reliable. I would highly recommend this mod if you are sticking with 3.7, from the research I have done seems like a good deal for performance to price. Looking at saving up for a sb in the future.

swipple, get a prodigy v2. it's sweet. batts last all day. makes the 901 come to life. i personally want to get a glv to add to my collection though. it looks pretty damn awesome. but i cant personally give any opinion on that one because i dont own one obviously. but the v2 is the only "e-cig" that finally got me off real cigs. i tried the m401(okay, but not enough umph), i tried the bb(burned my liquid at 6v), and now i have the v2 and i dont want to pick up a cigarette. 5v's is where it's at and the v2 delivers every day. c ya.

Have to respectfully disagree.. The self immolation mode of the 905 was a real hassle but has been resolved and the v3's are really solid..

The 905 however is not regulated down, it is mosfet driven though..

Many are putting in 2 3 volt 15270's and getting straght battery voltage at the connector..

I tried two fully charged 14250's and it smoked the atty in no time.. In my testing I get the full voltage of whatever the battery(s) are producing at the connector...

Either way, I didn't like it at 6 or 7.4 volts..
