I have tried a couple of tanks, and either I don't get good flow and the carto floods, or I don't get enough flow and the carto gets dry. I'm just wondering if there is some secret to doing it right.

I have a mini-sub from mom and pop vapor shop that I really want to work. I have a Boge 3 ohm carto with 3 holes punched in it with a saddle valve, and the darn thing won't stay moist unless I draw on it a bunch of times. In it I have a mix of BWB Peach which is 70%PG/30%VG, and BWB Malty which is 30%PG/70%VG. I had one smoktek DCT that it worked well in for about a week then it started tasting bad. I just don't want to waste any more cartos than I have to.

Help!

Did you fill the carto first? For whatever reason, this seems to matter. Fill it as you would normally fill a carto before putting it in the tank.

Also, those tanks have fill-holes. Make sure it isn't leaking air by standing in front of a mirror and vaping to see if bubbles come out from the screw in the hole. If it's leaking air it contributes to flooding the tank.

I also swap my carto's out once a week, steps I take on a new carto "boge standard" prefill using condom method untill juice is coming out of the top, blow it out a little, I use a dremmel tool to cut a thin slice in in the side of mine "just breaking the metal edge"..I was drilling. Both seem to work fine. Just like you after around a week I toss it and put in a new one..Just make sure its soaked before you put it in the tank, don't cut/drill into the center tube, dont fill/drip into the center tube and you should be ok ..Good Luck

I sort of regulate the wetness of the carto as I'm using it. If it seems to be getting dry I'll take a couple of dry hits (no button pushed) to pull some liquid into it (or for the next few hits I'll suck a bit longer after I've released the button). If it's too wet I'll take hits where I pull slower than normal (and a bit longer to still get a decent hit). That way you're cooking more liquid (longer time with coil hot), but pulling new juice in more slowly.

@Frick - yes, I filled the carto first. Lately my problem is more of a dry carto, but when I try to fix the problem is when I get a flood. The carto that came with the mini-sub was punched twice, and it wasn't enough, so I opened up the holes with a .0625 drill, then it flooded. I guess I have to figure out what works then go with that. I found all of the parts locally to make my own tanks, but I can't justify making them if I can't figure them out. Making them myself would cost $1.97 ea. and I could make 50 at a time, so it would be worth it if I figure this out.

just as said above, the sub tank has a fill hole that you can use to vent the carto. I have this same problem with boge cartos, they just don't wick well by their self. When the carto seems to be getting dry, just unscrew the screw and let some air in. Not too much or it will flood. It's all about the air pressure.. too much and flooding, and if the carto isn't wicking well there is negative pressure.. letting some air in helps. Let us know if it works.

Been using VISION Stones since they came out. Have less problem with them then others I've tried. Had lots of problems with the cylinder pulling off the base with the friction fit tanks. Haven't lost a load since changing to the screw caps tank. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

I'm definitely going to have to try one of those. I've noticed I go through WAY more juice with my Provari than I did before.
