What is this piece for? (AC adapter)

Ill be using this for a passthrough, Ill be cutting the connector off and using my own. Problem is, I really dont want this cylinder thing so close to the mod.

So what is it for? If I cut it off will it affect the output voltage?

My guess is a connection point only so the mfr can use a generic power supply and just add a plug appropriate for the device it will power. Never taken one apart though so not sure. Maybe someone else can confirm this.

Those are called Ferrite beads - and that's about all I can tell you about them.. lol

(I wondered the same thing a long time ago - so it became part of my usless-information catalog...)

They are ferrite cores to suppress noise/frequencies and meet certain regulatory requirements.

yes electrical noise filtering, if you are powering a coil directly the coil will not care about a little high frequency ripple,

If your PV has any complexity beyond a switch it may or may not be bothered by the electrical noise,

Is that a laptop power suply? if so then you should be fine witout, laptop suply are usually verry clean alredy, the ferite bead would be for anything picked up by the wire between the plug and suply.

Actually these ferrite beads are needed for environment protection from electrical noise generated by power supply and device connected to it. As guys said, for vaping purposes you can safely cut off this bead.
