I'm at the point of desperation now with Ego batteries. Maybe someone here can help me out because they are driving me absolutely insane.

Almost six months ago I decided to switch from mods to Ego batteries for convenience sake. Since then I've had constant problems just trying to get a consistent decent vape. I've switched tanks, coils, battery brands, eliquid ratios, etc. It's the same two problems across the board.

A. I can only get one or two good hits before the vapor stops coming almost completely
B. There's always a small drop of fluid on the pin when I take the tank off. Note that cleaning this makes no difference in the vapor problem.
C. Different brands seem to operate at voltages other than they advertise, resulting in me having to switch resistance every time I switch brands of battery, sometimes every time I switch batteries even when they're the same brand. Either the resistance doesn't make much vapor at all, or it tastes burnt. Every battery will only function with one specific resistance, not the 1.8ohm - 2.4ohm spectrum they supposedly can work with fine.

I have loosened and tightened all the threading on everything a million times and it never helps. At most it makes things worse. I make sure the center pin is working properly and not stuck or anything, and it's fine.

I've been vaping for two years so I know how to avoid the typical newbie mistakes. It seems to me like these devices are just garbage period, but it seems from all the Ego users I've observed that I'm the only one having these problems. An I just going insane or what? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I talk to vendors and it's like yup yup yup done that and that and that. I get a replacement, SAME ISSUE AS BEFORE. So far there's only been two batteries that worked consistently for a couple of months. Then one of them got a screwy o ring...

Maybe you've simply been spoiled by mods? Try an Ego Twist or Vision Spinner, or maybe an iTaste VV. They're about the same size as egos, but the variable voltage function makes them much more versatile.

Personally, even though I hardly ever use them myself, I think egos are okay, but I prefer being able to adjust the voltage.

I've tried the regular version and the Twist, I really prefer the regular though because I have no need for lower voltages. The iTaste doesn't have enough mah to justify the pricing IMHO. I've got an evod on the way now, I'm hoping that's somehow better. I really don't see how mods would have spoiled me... It's not like I'm being picky here, I just want to actually get some vapor out of my device for a period of time instead of one vape, set it down for fifteen minutes, one vape, set it down again, etc... It is literally not putting out hardly any vapor after one or two hits, not just putting out less than I prefer.

Not knowing what "eGo" batteries you are getting and from what sources there's only a few generalizations that can be applied here.

I've only used Joyetech eGo batteries purchased from legitimate Joyetech distributors. They have all boringly delivered their 3.2 to 3.3 volts with a PWM regulated output. (I'm one of the few people who have a meter that can correctly read the voltage of a PWM output battery.)

However that doesn't mean that all generic eGo batteries are created equal. From the reports on ECF - hardly. (One person couldn't understand why their 1100 mAh eGo battery from FastTech was only lasting a couple of hours. Pulled it apart, and found inside there a whopping 320 mAh battery...) Short of being able to put yours on a proper meter for PWM devices there is no way to really know what is going on with your voltages. Early Riva eGo batteries weren't regulated, and people were wowed with the high start voltage and then frustrated with the voltage drop as the batteries were used. It's still an easy way to make a cheap eGo battery and that could be what you have going on here.

I know about the issues between brands. What's frustrating me right now is the one that normally doesn't present issues, DV, is now giving me the same problems as the rest. I've arranged to chat with the vendor support over webcam... I don't know if it's going to help. I just moved so I don't know anything about vendors here or meets.

I'm starting to suspect it's the coils maybe... Ugh, I don't know any more. I've gotten so confused and scrambled at this point I don't know which way is up any more. I wish I still had my testing equipment. And wasn't in the peak of prego brain.

Thanks for trying to help but I think I just need to narrow things down to one brand and one tank and get three different resistances of coils and work logically from there....

Funny I picked up my ego style device today and it's around 4.2V but I had the same issue. You get used to a mod running higher volts and so they're hotter which gives more vaper on a short pull. They are used differently though. On mine I give it a long slow puff and get just as much as I do my mods but if I puff on it like I do a mod at 4.8 to 5 volts I'm not going to get the same. They're 2 different devices. Sometimes I like the smaller sized Ego over a big mod and other times the opposite.
