Thanks, Iceman- but what resistence do I choose? How can I tell?

This may help:

Vaping Power Chart

If you have a variable voltage battery you can adjust it to suit your needs/preferences. Fixed volt eGo batteries, from what I've heard, operate at around 3.4 volts. I've been using the 2.4-2.6 ohm CE3s with my eGo batteries.

Sounds probable. So, what could be causing the loss of vacuum? And is it fixable?

It may be fixable but probably not long term. You can now purchase dual coil CE5s (Vision V3s) for approx $6.00. I was quite impressed with them. Get a pack of 5 replacement heads for approx $12.00 and you will be good to go for a long time with virtually no leaking issues.

Well... keep in mind that most the non-rebuildable CE clearos are really disposables. Sure, you can clean them a bit and get them to last a while, but they are not meant to last all that long.... some might have Methuselahs... but most are just dead clearos walking.

I started out like some here... with an eGo bat and CE4 set up... my juice of choice was pretty hard on it, so it didn't last all that long before it went south. It didn't take me long to get sick of chucking clearos in the trash and I moved over to rebuildables... And now I am looking into picking up some Kanthal and wicking. Then I won't ever have to buy any more replacement heads either and the only time I need to pick up something is if I crack a tank, wear out a seal (which I guess can also be fixed) or wear out my battery.

I've tried a few different vendors of c4 types, and thus far my favorite has been myfreedomsmokes version with the pretty colors. they have an extra airhole draw so it's an easier vape than the others i've tried, and they do dribble a smidge sometimes but not enough to stop making vapor or gurgle. whenever I switch flavors I use a qtip. I carry a few in my case and wipe down battery post a couple times a day seems like.

What helps as well i've noticed is only fill to 1.6ml, not all the way, and they don't like to be manhandled. some days the ones I got from MFS don't do anything but leave a condensation mist on battery - where the other brands I have leave pools and gurgle and stop working until I take them apart, blow out the excess and swab out battery.

I'd agree evods, t3, vivi novas, etc have this issue less, but also have other issues.

Right now i'm tasting a LOT of juices and I go through juice slow. I have mostly c4s in rotation and a couple evods/vivi novas for juice I know I like :)

.

i just had 4 V3s w/ fluid rolling around in the quart ziplock for TSA, with bunch of bottles and small samplers. no leaks. i've seen them leak tiny drops when inverted for awhile, but did not see any on the walls of the bag. i also don't fill more than 1.4 to avoid flooding the top gasket. these had < mL each.

about 20 min after take off i pull two of my favs and an eGo 900 vv. put a light jacket on backwards to use like a blanket, arms thru the sleeves, palm the eGo in my hand window side, poke the tip out of the thumbhole at the end of the sleeve (that came in handy). lift up my hand like i'm resting my chin or deep in thought, take a drag from that side hold it 8 or 10 sec and slowly exhale. i did that so many times it was hilarious. exhale into the sleeve if too much. first time in my life gettin on-demand nic on a flt friggin awesome actually

window seat both ways, 6 hr flts, wife sitting shotgun, two seat rows
