Erin, if you have a Digital Multimeter you can check to see if the atty is completely dead. Set the Ohm dial to 200. Note the read out. It will either be 0 or 1. Touch the black probe to the
threads and the red probe to the center (or stick it in that little hole). A normal reading is around 2.3 or 2.4. If you get nothing its dead. Anything higher than 2.4 and the performance starts to deteriorate exponentially.
Are you positive your batts are charged? A week is kinda quick for attys to go bad, but it does happen.
Btw if you don't have a DMM, you can get an inexpensive one at Sears for about $19.95 or even cheaper is Harbor Freight. Sometimes they have them on sale for around $4.00.
