What I've Learned About Vaping

I've been on my vapequest for 5 weeks now, analog free. After all the google searches, youtube videos, forum reading, and of course vaping, here's the best of what I've learned:

1. Even if smoking analogs had no health risks, I'd still vape. Quitting smoking was a no brainer, the thought of smoking never crossed my mind once I got into vaping. Almost too good to be true.

2. The Ego-T system should be avoided altogeher.

3. Dripping is difficult. It's easy once you get into a nice rhythm, but a lot of the time, the atty is either too dry or flooded. There seems to be a rather small margin of error present when dripping. Often I can't figure out whether it's too dry or too full. I hope to improve my skills on this front. That said, I only became a convert to vaping after getting my first good drip hit, 4 weeks after I quit.

3. Let the atty cool before dripping.

4. Invest in a drip tip that doesn't require removal of the drip tip. I don't own one yet, but need to find one.

5. When exhaling, blow out some through the nose, it improves flavor. Currently practicing a short "priming puff" before I take a pull. I read this somewhere...anyone know what the purpose of this is? Perhaps it's because the flavor only starts to reveal itself after the button has been pressed for a second or two?

6. Good flavors are not easy to find. Note to self: research liquid reviews thoroughly before purchasing. Hope that helps to limit the number of bottles in my giveaway pile.

7. That there may be no way to clean an atty. They are disposable. This is the theory I found on this page: Cleaning an Atomizer the Untold Truth
I believe it, simply because there are so many theories offered on this site. If it was possible to clean these things, there would just be one simple way, and it would work for everyone.

What I'd like to learn:

1. How much better a VV device is compared to the other non-VV mods out there.

2. Whether replacing my Ego-T batteries with other batteries makes any difference aside from the time it takes to charge batteries and drain them.

3. I'd like to get a 306 and dip! That's next on my list. Wonder if it's easier or better than dripping.

4. What difference does 1.5 ohms make compared to 2.0?

5. Is there any vape out there that improves upon the huge hit I can get from dripping on a 510? Or is the improvement simply based on consistency and ease of use?

6. I'd like to know what page I can visit to find all the current coupons and deals so I can save me some dough.

depends on what type of unit you are using? i have a ego and a puresmokers icon 3.7v mod. i use LR306 on both of mine. dripping for me is what i like best because for myself it has a better taste then using a carto. 306's are only really meant for dripping, and if you us a LR atty i noticed it has a better TH and vapor. A 1.5 ohms on a atty is consider LR. i noticed that when i went from my ego to me 3.7 mod i had better consistency with my 3.7v mod because it stood at a consist level. the last time i saw current coupon list was in the social group-pay it forward-deals n seals.

Atomizers need to be cleaned. Get yourself an ultra sonic jewelry cleaner. I bought mine from harbor freight. Amazon also has them. Gets the gunk and buildup out. Well worth the money. I don't consider them disposable. I want the damn things to last as long as I can get them too. I know death is inevitable but I have some that are still running strong at 3 months.

Inhaling and exhaling through your nose is our way of tasting/smelling our liquids.

Primer puffs aren't needed unless you have automatic batteries.

Now to your questions:
1. Variable voltage is a totally different animal when it comes to vaping. The ability to "dial" in your juices is awesome. Some flavors are great at 3.7V but really explode at 4.2V. Just that little difference in voltage makes a world of difference in flavor. Madvapes has an inexpensive, around $35, VV mod box. Give one a try.

2. Not really sure what you are asking here so I'm going to guess. If your ego t batteries are a larger mah, they will last longer.

3. A 306 atomizer is a drippers delight. I use both standard and low resistance. Grant it, I mainly use cartomizers but I have a few atomizers to test flavors with.

4. Standard rule of thumb for ohms: the lower the ohm rating, the hotter they burn. The higher the ohm rating, the cooler they burn. This is strictly a taste preference for people. Some people like a hotter vape than others.

5. This is where variable voltage comes into play. It will make your 510 look like a whimp. I'm talking about crazy amounts of vapor, flavor, and TH.

If you're having trouble with juice getting stuck in the drip tip you can just gently blow into the drip tip. SuperTManufacturing also makes some great drip tips. They're pricey, but from what I understand they're worth it

5. When exhaling, blow out some through the nose, it improves flavor. Currently practicing a short "priming puff" before I take a pull. I read this somewhere...anyone know what the purpose of this is? Perhaps it's because the flavor only starts to reveal itself after the button has been pressed for a second or two?

I've only heard of doing primer puffs with automatic batteries. They aren't needed with manuals.

6. Good flavors are not easy to find. Note to self: research liquid reviews thoroughly before purchasing. Hope that helps to limit the number of bottles in my giveaway pile.

Taste is subjective. What tastes great to one person might taste like hammer crap to someone else. Reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, IMO. Flavors also vary between vendors and may taste different even though they're supposedly the same flavor.

What I'd like to learn:

1. How much better a VV device is compared to the other non-VV mods out there.

This is a matter of personal taste and opinion. Just as many people use VVs as do non-VV's. If you vape 3.7V, 5V or 6V only, then a VV might not be something you'd want to throw money at because it won't be worth it.

2. Whether replacing my Ego-T batteries with other batteries makes any difference aside from the time it takes to charge batteries and drain them.

Mods use a separate battery. The size and capacity of that battery is going to depend on the mod. You'll have to do some investigation and decide on a mod first. Most mod batteries are going to last as longer, if not longer, than an eGo battery. It just depends on the mod.

4. What difference does 1.5 ohms make compared to 2.0?

There's a lot of difference here! You'll get more watts when going from 2.0 to 1.5. A 2.0 vaped at 3.7V gives approximately 7 watts and a 1.5 at 3.7V is a little over 9 watts. What that means is the 1.5 atty is going to produce a warmer, denser vapor. It's also going to drain your battery a little more quickly and go through juice faster.

5. Is there any vape out there that improves upon the huge hit I can get from dripping on a 510? Or is the improvement simply based on consistency and ease of use?

Mods will do this for you. Consistency and ease of use are going to be based on the mod and how quickly you learn to use it.

6. I'd like to know what page I can visit to find all the current coupons and deals so I can save me some dough.

Coupon Code List
This is in no way meant to be used as the end-all, beat-all coupon list. Some might work, others may not. Some vendors will post coupons or specials in their sub-forum or through email.

My answers are in the dark red color. HTH!

Great reply WOH. Not much I can add. I will elaborate on my feelings for one part:

With my manual batteries I take two "puffs" then draw and inhale. The puffs are not to "prime" or warm the atty; I simply allow the initial puff vapor to escape my mouth and smelled as I draw and inhale. Seems to give a lot to the fullness of enjoying the flavor to taste and smell at the same time. This is the "purpose of my puffs".
