Totally my fault and not a quality issue, but I wanted to get some feedback on what is going on with my Ego battery. When I connect anything, it starts to fire and won't stop until I unscrew it. The button will flash when I press 5 times, but won't light up when I press with nothing attached. I was trying out my new Cobra clone and a new coil, which worked fine on my Lavatube. I left the house and wanted to grab something more portable, so I stuck the Cobra on an Ego battery. Big mistake, the coil shorted out and now the Ego has the symptoms I described. I should have kept the Cobra on a PV with short circuit protection, especially my first rebuild on a stainless steel wick. So did I fry the circuitry on the Ego? It still provides power, but it's always "on". Just curious on the mechanics of what's going on.

Yes you did, but try recharging it. That has happened to me and after recharging it, it seemed to reset itself. But don't leave it alone when recharging in case something weird happens.

This is why you don't use a rebuildable atty on a nonprotected chinese battery holder device. Unless of course you don't mind replacing them often. A coil can go at any time, and murphy's law says it will happen the minute you think everything is working perfectly.

Yep, another live and learn vaping experience. I don't use my Ego batteries much any more since I picked up a Lavatube and VV Gripper. Everything I use is now rebuilt (Vivi Novas, RBA's, and DUD's) so I have usually only been using my Ego's with stock heads. This fried Ego has gone into the battery recycling bin.

I personally like my EGO twists. I use them with rebuildable Clearos, Mini Vivis, and drip Attys. when I got started I bought an off-brand EGOlike device by Bluestar which didn't last more than two weeks. Then I got the EGO C upgrades with dual voltage control, and added some Twists.
That with all the flavors I've been trying has put a dent in my bank account, but I'm a happy vaper. In time I'll prolly go for a lavatube or something similar.
But back to the topic. EGO twists are reliable and inexpensive. I'd just toss that one and buy another.
But that's just me.
