I’ve been collecting parts and whatnot for a months now... kinda got distracted by the holidays, but I think I’m now ready to finally make my first box mod. I was wondering what kind of glue to use on the battery sled to attach it to the Hammond box? Also, I’m sure I will need the glue for other things in the process of building the mod.

I'm also looking for a nice spray on type bedliner or other grippy textured spray on paint I can coat the outside of the box mod with.

Not even sure the best "size" step drill bit to use for the holes i need to drill into the enclosure, any advice on picking one there would help as well.

I'm doing to the hardware store later today so i need to grab the last few things i need.

Hell yea, thanks man. Nobody responded before I did my home depot run the day I posted...... But, I got the exact same epoxy you linked too. I like the look of the paints you posted as well.

I'm going for the grippy almost rubber kinda feel for my first build, so I picked up some nice spray on truck bed linner. You know, the black rhino lining stuff people get professional done at a shop. I got the "do it yourself" kind that comes in a spray can. But the next one I do I'm gonna go for that nice car type quality pain you posted.

The step drills I think I'll order today (the ones you linked to).

One last question if you don't mind. I have a few Hammond boxes already. I get the plain unpainted ones and plan on sanding them down nice to get smooth edges on were the lid meets the box, and also try to get rid of as much of the Hammond 2 degree slope that's on the edges. You know, the angle that makes everyone's box lean to the side when sitting on the table.... Also making the atty attached to it have a crooked lean to it as well. From what I understand, I will not be able to sand it down enough for all edges to be completely at a 90 degree angle from one another. Apparently I will eventually start hitting/sanding down the screw holes on the lid of the box. I have mad OCD, so I wanna get them things flat and square as can be.

I hear there is a style of non metal Hammond box that does not have the slope/angle on the edges. I'm not sure exactly which ones they are... I guess they have a few kinds of plastic composetes ones they make, some have the same old slope, but I'm hearing one kind does not.

Can anyone sheed some light on this subject for me? I need to know which ones have true 90 degree non sloped edges. It would be dancing in the streets if I could get my hands on some. An explanation and some links would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks so much again everyone. Love you guys :)

Check out the 1591A

The 1591A is made of ABS. I know some of the other "plastic" styles ones they make are polycarbonate. Do you know if all the ABS material boxes are true 90 degree angles with no slope? So the key here is the ABS boxes? Or does the polycarbonate ones also come without the slope/angle on the edges?

I know most of the boxes in the sizes we use are "stompbox" style.... So their kinda make to sit with the big edge down, which isn't an issue. But what we are using them for they sit upright, which causes the lean do to the angle. I've also read the 2 degree angle is supposed to assist when popping the box out of the mold easier.

Based on the 1591A data sheets, looks like it have 90 degree angles but I not really sure unless I have them in hand. I think to the best way to find out which one is to contact Hammond directly

looks like straight sides all around to me. http://www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1591A.pdf

Yeah, the specs sheet looks pretty damn straight on all edges. I ordered 4 of them from Mouser a couple days ago. Some with the slide card insert kinda guts to it, and some without.

When they get in I'll post some pics and product number so others looking for the same can get an idea of what to get.

To bad they don't make a single metal enclose with flat edges that would work for a box mod. It just kills me seeing so many boxes for sale with that crooked lean to them. Even "professional" ones. Fasttech as all these box mods popping up now, and I know you can buy the hana style enclosures from them for DIY stuff. I would be cool if in the future they would have some perfect sized enclosures with no holes drilled in them.
