Clearly, tastes in e-liquid are very subjective: one guy's all-day-vape is another guy's drain cleaner. Some people have liquids they can't be without others have preferences, but no specific favorites.

So, for you, what makes a good e-liquid? Is flavor, mouthfeel, throat hit, or vapor more important to you? Is there a vendor who consistantly makes stuff you like-- if so, why? If you shop around, what do you look for? Do you like tobaccos, fruits, desserts? Do you like juices with one dominant flavor, or do you like the complex stuff? Do you have something specific you look for, or just try random juices until you find one you like? Do you go by online recommendations? Do the juices you like have something in common, or do you go for variety?

I've been vaping a few months, and I don't really have a system. I like some tobaccos, but others are just icky. Menthol is definitely not my thing. I like some dessert vapes and some fruit vapes, but others just taste syrupy. How do people go about finding what works for them?

I started off with a tobacco type and realised after 1/3 of a tank that it wasn't for me. So decided to try a blackcurrant juice from my local B&M, loved it. Went on to strawberries and cream, cherry and blueberry - loved them too. But I still felt something was missing, the flavour was there, but just not strong enough.
Next step, DIY. Now I mainly mix my own, mostly fruits, desserts, coffee or drinks type juices.
I still order some pre-made online (mainly from China), but use these as a base to mix up my own concoctions. For me, DIY, is the way forward.

I personally stopped going after taste so much. Now I only go after vendors who make juices the right way using the best ingredients. For me it is Ahlusion. I will admit, there are vendors who have really good tasting juice but refuse to disclose PG/VG content or if the ingredients are artificial or extracted etc.. So I will stick to the vendor who has a great reputation for created a good juice.

I only recently started ordering online. Basically, it's a crapshoot. So far, I was happy with Azurevaping, 120ml 80/20 12mg $16 (take a chance)

ECBlends their standard blend is 50/50, really liked their "dragon" series of flavors, They also had some other tasty blends. Overall Iliked their stuff better than MBV.

Everyone around here is raving about Mt, Baker Vapor, so I ordered some of their popular flavors in 20/80 VG. 6mg nic. Maybe it's the ratio or maybe they haven't steeped long enough, but I just wasn't that impressed... yet.

Don't write off the Chinese juice either. If you bought from a B+M, it was probably Chinese. DeKang is the General Motors of the juice industry. Most of their stuff is 80/20. They can't offer the personal choices available with the custom vendors.

I've been going with the higher VG lately, because I prefer vapor over throat hit. Also I either get 0 or 6mg nic. I wouldn't do that if you are new to vaping. Medium strength Chinese juice is usually 18mg (for a reference) I'm still not sure how it affects the flavor. The high VG stuff is still steeping.

Don't forget you might hate everything I like, and vice versa.

There are sooo many vendors, and sooo many flavors out there. If you have some you like, it's way less expensive to stick with what's working for you, and try something new when you get tired of it. However, if you continue to hang around ECF, you will find this virtually impossible. The same goes for hardware. Let's say that's a friendly warning. You're welcome. Have fun

When I first started vaping I started off with tobacco type and quickly realized it wasn't for me (with the exception of vanilla tobacco and Halo's Tribeca.) I have my occasional fruity type, but keep no more than 1 or 2 bottles of that because my go-to vapes are usually in the same rotation (Vermillion River Kentucky Vanilla, Halo's Tribeca, MBV Whipped Cream, & NLV Bounty Hunter) I also enjoy mixing it up with sweeter type vapes (cake flavors and such) but nothing too overbearing. I definitely am a flavor and vapor production person, but I enjoy a good but subtle throat hit. I like a smooth vape as well.

Took me about three weeks to a month to really find a good rotation of all day vapes, and then I play with my 'on the side' vapes by trading in the PIF forum, and occasionally buying new ones that are samplers.

Happy Vaping :vapor:

Flavor, vapor production, and transparency. Not the transparency of the juice, mind you, but of the ingredients and processes that go into making them. Pink spot was the first vendor on my journey to really impress me, and as time has gone on I have settled on Ahlusion, HHV, and Alice in Vapeland pretty much exclusively. Of course, ask me again in a year and that list may shift a little.

I really do go for variety. In my 3 evods and a protank right now I have a maple tobacco, a tea, a cake flavor, and another tobacco. How do you find what works for you? Read reviews, and experiment!

I think this is an excellent idea for a thread! I’m a relatively new vaper, but I have gone a little crazy with my orders. :D I have tried between 10 – 15 vendors in the short time I have been vaping (multiple juices from each vendor) with more on the way, so I suppose I have a fairly decent idea of what I like.

When it comes to the four criteria you listed I would have to say flavor, mouth feel, and vapor are most important to me. I do prefer a bit of a throat hit, but I vape 18mg juices so that hasn’t really been an issue for me yet – even the weaker TH juices are good enough for me. Flavor and mouth feel are probably equally important to me with vapor production being an added bonus.

The only vendor I have placed more than two orders with has been Parke’s Vaping… I feel like Mary does a good job of being consistent and I’m a dessert/sweet juice kind of guy – I have enjoyed many of her sweeter juices (especially Gooey Goodness Cake and Peanut Butter Cookie!). I’ve recently decided to start venturing into the world of NET’s and have placed orders from a couple of highly recommended/popular NET vendors that I’m still waiting on. I always loved cigarettes and when I was still smoking I did have a couple of pipes and would enjoy a cigar from time to time. I don’t know if that’s because I really enjoyed the taste of tobacco, or if it’s because I wanted some other flavors mixed in with my tobacco.

One thing that I do know is that I am thoroughly enjoying being a vaper and trying new juices all the time is a big part of the fun for me! I know I’m not really saving any money, but I’m improving my health and having fun doing it! :toast:
