What material is the "polyfill" in G6 cartomizers? (scared of Aspire BVC now)

After reading this reddit thread:

http://www.reddit.com/r/electronic_...pire_just_released_a_statement_regarding_the/

I am now scared of using my Aspire Nautilus Mini with BVC coils. It's a damn shame too because I bought like 10 coils and 3 tanks. I am going back to my G6 for now but I cannot find any information as to what the "polyfill" material is on the G6. If I'm running away from the BVC's "fiberglass paper" material that crumbles then I sure hope I don't switch back to G6 and find out it's the same thing.

I dont know what the filler is in G6 carto's but I will say that as far as the mini's go... as long as you keep the wick wet, you should never have a problem. Same as with all wick materials. Any of them, can cause you some harm... in particle form or burnt... and they could (very small chance) when burnt have lose particles occur.

And to be honest, the same thing could be said about the filters in cigarettes... that didnt stop you from smoking for years.

Look at the stuff flake off on his fingers and it's FIBERGLASS. I could use my iclear 30s but I don't like the loose draw and it's not adjustable airflow. Maybe I'll try the Kanger Aerotank. Course I can switch to BDC with the Nautilus Minis.

Yes I have seen that video many months ago, and you will notice.. that only happens to a dry coil, when it is pulled apart. Try to get flakes to come out of a wet coil, that is fully assembled.

Agree completely.

That reddit article is based on opinions, assumptions and conclusions not based in fact. I give it as much weight as the opinion that flavored ejuice will lead to children starting to smoke tobacco.

The SGS report says it's (BVC filler) "Fiberglass paper" which isn't "ceramic". Searching about fiberglass I found this: "Fiberglass is a polymer, made of a plastic matrix reinforced by fine fibers made of glass.". I'm just worried about it being similar to asbestos where microscopic "pins" get lodged into the lungs permanently. See the SGS report yourself here: http://kn100.info/hosted/scs.pdf

That is interesting! Only thing is that nowhere is stated that these are the BVC coils? Valid point. I'm not particularly concerned because my nautilus is a back up - I don't use it very often. But certainly food for thought!

I thought cartos used silica for their filling, no?

Poly fill in most carts is literally polyester filling, just like what's used in stuffed animals and pillows, just packed different. Carts have been around pretty much since e-cigs were invented about 7? Years ago. I would think if there were any harmful effects they would start to show up in some people by now, but I'm no scientist. Personally I have a lot of trouble with silica wicks (sore throat etc) and have no problem with carts at all. Ymmv

That would explain why once it's burned you have to throw the whole thing out!

Part of what makes BVC "revolutionary" is the different material they used. They called it "ceramic" but when people started asking why the material flakes off so easily they showed this PDF proving that they got SGS certification and it's safe. Then people questioned why it says "Fiberglass paper" then they yanked the official response. I believe this PDF is a copy hosted by a third party. You can see that the company name and address corresponds to Aspire's holding company. Also the photo at the end of the PDF looks just like the filler in the BVC as seen in RipTripper's youtube video. I will be ordering some BDC coils (going backwards in technology) so these tanks don't go to waste.

Meanwhile, I just wish Halo would respond about what is used in G6 cartos. I guess they don't monitor most messages here. Perhaps I'll email them directly.

Yes..your best way to get a quicker answer is to email them directly or Rockin Randle on here. Report back what you find out. I did read about the Ceramic Fiber filler after you posted here. Thanks for the info and the heads up! I agree, we all stopped smoking to try and heal from damage we've done. The last thing we want is further damage.

but unfortunately, with vaping be newer and not a lot of unbiased, factual tests out there, it's hard to know what is truly safe and what can be harmful. That's the only downside I have with vaping is the unknowns. :(

That would be a very good guess.

Email them directly.

(Although I believe always has the correct answer.)
