Recently scanned across a post somewhere on ECF where someone mentioned that you should not vape vanilla or cinnamon. Don't know what he meant, and nobody seemed to jump up and respond.

Does anybody have any information or opinions as to possible immediate or long-term consequences that may arise from vaping certain flavors? I happen to really love those above.

I have tried a french vanilla and a cinnamon (red hots). The vanilla I had no problem with, but the cinnamon caused me to have a swollen throat and burning lips and tongue. My boyfriend, however, has absolutely NO issues at all with the cinnamon, and in fact LOVES it, switching it all day with a tobacco blend.

I believe, based on this anecdotal experience, that as long as you have a quality product, the issue is if you are sensitive to the cinnamon, not the cinnamon itself being dangerous.

I vape vanilla liquids all the time too. There may be issues with making you own juices using artificial vanillin or something?

There are some flavorings that have a bit of diacetyl in them, mainly buttery or custardy or coconut flavors from one flavoring vendor (Flavourart) but it's a very small amount. Larger amounts of inhalation were believed to cause lung cancer ro lung issues if popcorn plant workers (it is the buttery flavor for some popcorns). Never been tested for inhaling small very amounts. I just stay away from custard, coconut, buttery flavors unless the vendor says their juices are diacetyl free.

Medium and high amounts of nicotine in 100% PG juices can cause irritation because nicotine is a skin irritant. it would make my tongue sore (same feeling as after you burn your tongue with a hot drink). Some people have gotten mouth sores, sore throat, even sore lungs. PG does little to buffer nicotine's irritation so it also lets through the most TH. Most people are fine with juices that have at least 30% VG. Some are fine with lower or no VG. Some need a majority or all VG. VG dulls irritation, TH, flavor, and makes more visible vapor.

In general, don't vape oils or resins or anything else that will gunk up the atty. I don't recommend vaping alcohol or anything else that might ignite.
