ok so this morn I spoke with him again and now I see why he is so skeptical
Personally, I think that you handled this damned well. Rather than just preach or spout AT him, you spoke with him and did something that so many people seem to forget these days. You also LISTENED to him. Good for you!

Because you didn't treat the conversation as something you wanted "to win", you took the time to listen to his reasoning and experiences that made him so skeptical in the first place.

By doing so, it's far more likely that he will be willing to return the favor and listen to you if/when you provide him any information on the subject.

Congrats on raising the bar on civility when faced with someone who appears to be confrontational or contrary. By being calm and positive, you've been one more example of how we (as a community) can best present ourselves, our experiences, and our information.

Well done!

All I can say is, if it helped you quit or reduce your analog intake then tell him just that. If he wants to try it then he will. I have people ask me daily how in the world is that helping you quit smoking. My reply is the same every time. I don't know but it is the only things that has worked for me after 3 packs a day for 35 yrs of smoking stinkys.
There will always be skeptics about everything. I am vaping for me and I feel great.
vape on!

How many on this thread have joined and are supporting CASAA? It's the best place to gain the education we all need to answer the skeptics about vaping. And it is the only group that is actively fighting to keep vaping from being banned or restricted everywhere.

Let's support each other by all joining and supporting CASAA. And add the CASAA banner to your posts so other new members know where they can go for information to answer the questions they get about vaping.

I had told this story before. In our neighbour's home Somebody came and told me this thing is more dangerous than cigarettes. so I heard I told inhaling a big vapour. You know it is dangerous and still using it? He asked. Funny questions I dont reply most of them but ok I told. Is there any glycerin in your cigarette? I asked he told he did not know. I told Yes there is. It keeps your tobacco damp. Is there Nicotine in your cigarette? Yes there is. Showing him my PV I told him there is only glycerin and nicotin in this device and what is more I dont burn them. Well now how many more things are there in your ciarette? Than he asked me if it really worked and how he could get one.
It is easy if you believe in something and have to fight for it. You will have answers.

It's funny how the anti-ecig nazis want to spout 'there's no evidence it works'. Three words...follow the money. This isn't turning into a billion+ industry because e-cigs don't work. Oh wait I forgot, that must be all the non-smokers and kids that are buying them (sarcasm).

E-cigs have progressed a LOT the past few years. It's only been this year that glue+plastic free "clearomizers" have come out (protank 2's). I personally wouldn't touch "cartomizers" or the cig-sized models because of the chance of inhaling burning plastic foam. It's very likely that the bad reaction for the family member had something to do with an inferior product, way too much nic, allergic to PG, or all three. As far as quality products go, this is the best time for someone to get into vaping.

As a side note, in the near future it MAY be found that some of the flavorings are dangerous to inhale. I don't think there should be any concern whatsoever while the smokers lungs are clearing up though. There's no lung to damage I don't think, just tar and dead cilia lol. It's important to have something better tasting than a cigarette at first, as it's a big motivation to stick with it. I'll personally be switching to unflavored at some point.

Just tell him why you like it.

No need to sell it if he wants to actually do it bad enough he can look on the worlds largest resource....the internet and find all the answers he needs.

Some people just like to hate and I do my best not to put any energy into others who in my book have nothing to contribute to my life.

He does it or he doesn't. Plain and simple as that. I didn't need anyone to sell me on the benefits of it. Why should he?

ok so this morn I spoke with him again and now I see why he is so skeptical , according to him a family member of his was a smoker and tried out an ecig back in 2010 , and about the end of the first month he became very sick noticing that he was not feeling well daily .
constant upset stomach head aches etc , this side effects he was having got so bad that he was hospitalized for 4 days because of it and actually had fluid built up in his left lung , that the doctors said was caused by the use of the ecig
hence that was the end of ecigs for him ....after 2 weeks of being off the ecig he was fine and returned to smoking and hasn't had any problems since , responding to this I just said well I guess ecigs aren't for everyone .
at least now I know why he is so skeptical and against his wife trying an ecig , because of a bad exp they had , now back in 2010 maybe ecigs weren't as advanced as they are today , Im no expert but im think maybe nicotine overdose in this situation and bad exp ?????
I mean certainly I can understand where he is coming from now anyone could clearly ecig use isn't for everyone , if an ecig put me in the hospital and it was proven the ecig was causing me to be ill of course that would be the end of ecig use for me as well . I think it would be for anyone . that was hospitalized from any product .

I've heard this is caused by oils being used in the ejuice. I believe it's called lipoid pneumonia.

I had a few fellow employees ask me questions and voice their skepticism. I just tell them my story and it usually works.

"Hey...I smoked 2 packs per day for 37 years. I haven't had a smoke in XX days thanks for this nicotine juice. I've tried patches, gum, lozenges, pills, hypnosis and even had someone poked needles behind my ears. So far, this is the only thing that has worked. Have you noticed that I don't stink anymore?"

Then I make them get closer and smell me.

In my case it was about 40 years and the results are in my signature line...
