I'm still on the fence about getting a kayfun lite plus v2 and playing with it on the mods I have or just getting LP Reo Grand. While I'm deciding, what Reo finish holds up the best? Knowing me it would be stuffed in my pocket with whatever else is in there at the time and would need to have bearing grease washed off from time to time. I have heard the copper and silver vein tarnish, but I might like that if it doesn't just turn black. I like tarnished copper and brass better than polished. I'm not a big fan of flashy colors and stuff. What else should I know about the finishes?

So far the only ones that really interest me much are, hammer tone, black wrinkle, and the copper and silver vein. I don't see the tumbled on the site anymore except on the SL. That's probably just as well. I wouldn't be able to resist having a piece of raw aluminum in my hand without modding it and voiding my warranty.

It has been stated I believe by Rob himself that the Hammertone is the most durable. I can attest to the Black Wrinkle being equally as durable. If you really want a TRA in the non SL body PM Rob at Reosmods, he'll hook you up. In order for the Copper vein and Silver vein not to turn they need to be sealed with a clearcoat.

The hammer tone fits my utilitarian personality pretty well. It reminds me of a toolbox. As I stated earlier, I'm not sure I can be trusted around raw metal. I would have to start rounding corners, refinishing..etc. If I had to send it in for warranty, Rob would be like, "This isn't how you got it."

Well now, I'm not there quite yet, but I gotta tell you this pic is just freakin' awesome. I have another thread going about a Kayfun lite plus v2. I think it's confirming what I already knew, if you combine a tank and an atty you can't carry it in your pocket without it gurgling and weeping. I just need to be more careful with it. Yeah, I'm not really that guy.

I've seen your other threads/posts on this - you're wise to be doing this due diligence. By the sounds of it you're perfect candidate for the reo.

I can attest to how durable the hammertone is and there is a reason it's the finish of choice for lots of other heavy use tools and equipment in the world. The black wrinkle is very strong as well, and the tumbled raw aluminum feels the best in the hand (IMO).

You'd have to do some serous modding to void your warranty. Rob is quite accommodating that way. In fact, the reo has to be the most heavily user-modded device in the world.

I've been looking for something better than what I'm using and all the roads keep bringing me back here. After looking at the answers on my other posts, I don't think I'm going to be happy with anything else. I'm just not sure I can turn loose of the cash. Don't get me wrong. I hear everybody always talks about how expensive a Reo is, but name the authentic mods you can get at this price point.

It's an investment, to be sure. But, considering that the love/hate ratio for reos is about 100:1 and that you could get your money back out in under a day in the classies if it didn't work out for you, it's a fairly low risk investment.

Vaper Shark DNA's cost $130-190, P3's cost ~$200, authentic tube mech's, well, the sky is the limit. It's what it's worth to you that matters and I've never heard of buyer's remorse from a reo user.

Nothing but prime real estate in reoville. Every home is a luxury home with great neighbors on both sides. Crime, taxes and utilities are very low to boot. Sure the down payment is high but subsequent payments are low with no closing costs.

Can't say the same for Marlboro country. And real estate there starts at an arm and a leg and ends with your life.
