Lots of folks will probably suggest variable voltage and box mods. Nothing wrong with either. In my experience, you can't go wrong with a 5v GLV-2 from Great Lakes Vapor.

Unless they're custom etched with a user's name, GLVs listed in the classifieds typically sell in minutes, not hours or days and it's the only PV I'm aware of with a lifetime warranty on every device regardless of who owns it, where they got it, or how many times it's changed hands.

That's a pretty hefty testament to the quality of the device and the commitment of its designer.

I've had a few mods, but I still go back to the ego, and now the bloog kit, however if you're looking for a bigger mod, the provari is amazing, variable voltage from 3.3-6.0v. If you want a juice fed mod the Reo and the Ali'i are the best of the best (from what I've heard). There are a ton of mods tho, so look around and find something nice. However if you do get a mod, just don't get any juice with it (outside of canada) in case it gets busted at the border.

What are you vaping on now?

I've got a Silver Bullet and it's my primary vape. It's rock solid and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a big batt mod. The batt's last all day on a charge, and will go 2 days if you let'em. But it's a fistfull. I checked out the Omega and BB when I was at Altsmoke and can tell you they're built just as well.

Whatever mod you choose make sure you get good batt's. They make all the difference. Pick up at least 2 and make sure they're high drain or IMR types. If you get the cheap low drain kind you won't get the best vaping experience out of your new toy. And don't be fooled by the high mah rating on some of the cheaper ones, they're over rated. The AW 2600 mah 18650 will outperform the 3000 mah Ultrafires in every way.

Wow tough call. I have collected a few Mods and I can tell you which ones I am hitting everyday. The Darwin, Reo Mini, ProVari and Provape-1. The mini and the Provape have Cisco LR 306's on them exclusively, Vari a MAP tank and the Darwin gets switched up between Iken V2 Cartos, Boges and Iken 801 Fusions. If something happened to any of the above mentioned Mods I would immmediately reorder a new one. I can not say that for the other Mods in the collection

That is where a lot of people are completely wrong as I also was before I actually received it. If you watch the videos on it you will hear people say they could hammer nails with it and I will say the same as it is like a little brick. I and many others also thought that the swing arm would also be a fragile part to worry about but it is also solid as a brick.

Got my Provari a couple of days ago and so far I love it.

Time for a Winnipeg Vapers Meet!! I would love to see one of these in person. Then again it might push me over the edge to buy one, hehehe. I have felt for a while now that I need to try something new, its getting pretty hard to restrain myself, the only thing that stops me is the confusion on which one to buy!

My girlfriend asked me what I want for my Bday, I told her a PV/mod, but I don't know which one to get........Alpha, silver bullet, Omega, BB, Saber touch......... and the list goes on. Any help would be appreicated. Cheers :vapor:

Hands down, get the ProVari. There's no question. ProVari.

It's not a mod, since it wasn't modified from anything, lol. But in my opinion, it is by far the top-of-the-line PV at present, and we don't see it being bumped from that position any time soon (if ever).

Extremely professional-quality build (seriously, you should see & feel how slickly the end-cap screws on, it's a thing of beauty). Loads of great features are built-in to it, such as:

- short circuit protection
- multimeter capability (for checking your battery's remaining life, or checking the ohms resistance of your atty/cartomizer, with nothing more than a few button presses)
- on/off functionality for the button's LED and/or the PV itself
- electronic switch
- over-current protection
- only uses one battery at a time, no stacking baloney

...lots of nice stuff.

It also maintains the exact same power & voltage that you get from your first drag with a fresh battery, in every drag right down to the last when the battery's almost dead. No change at all in throat hit, vapour production or power, despite the battery drain from usage. This is a huge plus - since we've all had PV's where the drags get notably weaker the closer the battery gets to being drained (which sucks).

It has a 510 connection, so it's convenient on that score.

It has variable voltage - you can adjust the voltage anywhere from 3.3 volts to 6 volts, and it's adjustable by 0.1 volt increments. Again, a few presses of the button is all it takes & you've changed your voltage.

Having the ProVari is like having a dozen mods in one. Which rules!

Kind of makes you look at all the 3.7 devices out there and go "hmm...no thanks."

It feels very nice in your hand too...as comfortable (or even more so) as the Mega eGo ever felt. Nice & compact, not slippery, just...really good. One of the main problems we had when considering so many of the "advanced" PV's out there was that a lot of them just looked oddly shaped, or way too big, or uncomfortable to hold/use, or of questionable quality in design and/or materials. I'm sure they all work fine for some folks. But yeah.

The ProVari is smaller than we had thought from the photos etc; it's definitely not a problem to take it out & about with you, carry in your pocket, or what have you. At first, it felt a bit heavier than we had thought too - not in a bad way, just in a "wow, didn't expect that" sort of way. But now we're so used to it that it feels lighter than at first. We've never found the weight to be tiring or wearing or anything, not even after vaping all day with it - so no worries.

It is expensive, but not overly so. $159. We consider it an investment, and a superb one. We also recommend the original-silver colour...the 'base' model. When we ordered ours, we also got the charger, AW IMR batts (3 x 18490 and 2 x 18650), an extra end cap, the 18650 extension cap, and the 2-year warranty. Also went with the faster shipping. So it came to quite a bit. But so far, we've only used two of the 18490 batts & it's been a dream. At 4.2 volts (my usual personal preference), with a standard Boge 510 cartomizer, the 18490 will last all day. In the last month we've only ever seen the low-battery flashing light once. Never fully drained one yet.

Good news too - Jack now carries these AW IMR 18490 batts here in Canada! And we're pretty sure he also has the same charger, too. Yay!

We have zero regrets in having bought the ProVari. In fact, if they come out with a pink version, we'll buy another! And I'm sooo glad we waited all these many months, reading reviews, pondering devices etc...waiting for this beauty to come along. When I think of all the goodness & professional quality in the ProVari, nothing else compares. Simple to use, user-friendly, vapes like a dream, and built solid - like something from NASA. In fact they used the same military design rules that the military & NASA use, to design this. This is the PV an astronaut would use, haha!

I would recommend checking out this 15 minute video review from Scott Bonner in the UK. It's an enjoyable watch & really helpful. You'll definitely want to give it a watch before you decide what to tell your girlfriend.

---

In conclusion...a very happy birthday to you, happy vaping & all the best dear!

Hands down, get the ProVari. There's no question.

Having the ProVari is like having a dozen mods in one.

I'm sorry but I am just courious as to how many different big battery P/V's and mods did you have to try or use to come to conclusion?

Zero, VapourGuy. Though I've studied many in detail over a long period. What I meant earlier was that instead of having one mod that runs at 3.7 volts only, or another that runs at 5 volts only, or another that might have two settings - say, 3.7 and 6 volts, but nothing in between - the ProVari offers dozens of voltage settings in one PV. So it rules! And is "like having dozens of [single-voltage-setting] mods in one."

Unless you really liked the shape/design of numerous different devices, or really wanted to have several PV's in order to enjoy different voltages...the ProVari is the way to go. It makes all those single-voltage-setting devices a lot less valuable than they used to be, price-wise.

Factor in all the other awesome features built-in to the ProVari, and most other PV's don't hold a candle to it. That's just my feeling...and the original poster did ask for advice on what to get! But we're all free to hold different opinions & make our own decisions.
