I have not drilled mine out, as the factory size holes seem to be working for me.

As for your drill, if you have a standard drill, it should be fine. There should be no problems with the drill bit fitting in the drill.

Wait a second ... 1/64 ?!? That does sound awfully small, do they make drill bits that small?

They do, devaulto, but it is very small. Actually, if you need smaller, there is a number series of bits as well. They are usually sold in small plastic vials at industrial suppliers. At that, some might be special order. The smaller the bit, the faster (rpm wise) it needs to turn. I don't recall a hand held drill motor that would get there, and I surely wouldn't spend the cash for a Dremal and chuck for something the cost of a Protank.

Thanks Nermal. I guess it took me by surprise since 1/16 and 3/16 seem to be 2 of the more popular sizes for working with the PT 2s. However, this is usually in reference to building nano and micro coils ... not drilling out the air holes.

Help an inexperienced protank guy out here please- Is this the small hole on the 510 threads you are referring to ? If the PT is known to be "airy" won't dilling the hole larger make it worse ?

Yes, the holes in the stem. On the first version of the ProTank these holes were larger, however after YouTube "Reviewers" and many complaint posts here about the "airy draw" Kanger reduced these holes giving the ProTank a super tight draw.

The base of the ProTank is chromed brass so it is relatively easy to drill it out to get a good draw.

What size drill bit do I need to open the air holes in a protank base? I was told 1/64, but I can't find it in any stores. Also will it fit in my drill or do I need something else to accommodate the small bit size?

Go to the local hobby shop, they have drill bits that go down to .025 of an inch and get the little mandril ( bit holder), most standard drills wont close down too much further than 1/16" dia.

Underwhelmed- A like for you. Good explanation. Being new to it all, I have little reference on "draw". I have the PT 2 but my lips have not seen the original PT. Perhaps what I read about the PT being "airy" came from older threads regarding the PT1. I found the IClear30 that came with the MVP has a tighter pull than the PT2. Maybe I'll drill the IC30 out- I find the PT2 exceptable.
