What strength is the best for me?

Hello fellow vapers!

I converted yesterday to the e-cig. I have a Twisp Ego (Janty) and am so happy with it and its vapour producing capabilities.

Only thing is, vaping causes me a terrible headache and stuffy head sensation and I do so enjoy doing it. What causes this, is it the propylene glycol or the nicotine concentration?

I used to smoke Peter Stuyvesant (here in South Africa) which has 0.8mg Nicotine and 8mg Tar. The Twisp sales rep advised me to start on the regular srength twisp e-liquids.

Is it just too strong for me, am I vaping too much or too often ? How much nicotine is in a puff of regular strength?

Does anybody report these side-effects using the zero liquid?

I would really like to know what exactly causes this reaction so I can change something and continue enjoying the e-cig. I am committed to quitting smoking.

Any advice is most welcome.

Thank you in advance.

It could be too strong - everyone needs a tailored nic level there really is no one size fits all despite what people will tell you.
Suggest getting some liquids not made by the company that sold you the PV for starters. Juice that comes with kits is notoriously awful lol, although some is ok, but a good juice supplier (speicalising in juices) should make you something a bit more palatable.
If 18mg is giving you aheadache then yes it is likely too high for you; try dropping to 16 or 12 and try that. It may still be toos trong, many people need less nic than they initailly think, so its often a good idea to buy a no-nic version of one of the flavors you buy (for example if you buy a menthol at 12mg nic also buy the zeromg version) so that you can 'cut' it yourself and lower the nic level without losing flavor. You can do the same thing with plain VG of course but then you will dilute the flavor as well.

My vaping experience didn't really start until I began mixing my own juice. The liquid I got with my kit was pretty bad and I almost gave up.

There's plenty information in the ECF library on mixing juices, and lots of videos on You Tube.

The ECF Library

If you can find the basic ingredients of VG or PG in a store or pharmacy near you, you can easily dilute the juice you have to a lower nicotine level and see if it's any better. That would be the quickest way to find out. Alternately, order a starter kit from a reputable supplier (check the forums for lists) and try mixing your own.

Unless you have some rare allergy to one of the ingredients, my feeling is it's the juice itself which is causing headaches.
