I currently use an ego, and a thread caught my eye tonight talking about building a box mod for about 40$, and that it offers 3.7v, and that my ego offers 3.1.

I would like a simple explanation of what a box mod is, and where to buy the parts for one.

Also, are 510 fittings the best thing for my ego's.

I do not have any LR attys, or cartos yet. It seems I need to wait a couple of weeks for the Rev 4 e2''s based on what I have learned in ECF. I have a half dozen attys and 4 of them are the extra long 510's and I get hardly any vapor from any of them. My orginal 510 attys that came on my ego work great, but I fried one today in my pocket. It still works but with less vapor, and doesnt taste as good any more.

Question. Should I be buying a box mod, or should I upgrade my fittings to a different size. I read a lot about 808's or 801's, and recently 301's. Would they be any better than my 510 things?

Since I have not taken this next plunge of cartos and/or replacement attys, where should go Next?

Thanks to all! I think I am at 6 weeks with not a single analog, but cravings are coming back, and I need to stay away from them.

Basically, all of the 510 kits, ego kits are 3.7v. They have a mAH rating, which determines how long they last. A box mod, is just a battery box. You can get different ones, 3.7, 5v, 6v, etc.. So if you want more power, gotta get something with better batteries, like a box mod, or any other mod that offers battery stacking for high voltage. Your fittings is pretty much a preference.
Also, the batteries in mod's recharge faster, longer life span (typically), way cheaper, and much greater mAh.

Well, a box mod, is quite literally, a box. Usually it starts with a battery holder, which is then modified (the mod in boxmod) to have a connection for the atomizer and one or more switches. Sometimes, if the finished mod is made for High Voltage (HV), there will be a regulator included, that will either maintain a fixed or variable voltage.

I don't think anything else will work TBH

I would suggest either LR cartos or attys, or go with a high-volt boxmod. Or even a tube mod. But whatever you do, don't put any LR carto or atty on a high voltage mod.

Do a search for REO, Ali'i, and Wetbox. You will find post and video reviews that describe them well. Look into the bottom fed aspect.

Here are some of the places to start for the Ali'i (which I have):

Look for the names above in the E Cigarette Suppliers and Electronic Cigarette Reviews forums.

Madvapes has everything you need. At a minimum you will need a battery box, (it's a box with an on and off switch that holds two or more AA or AAA batteries. The simplest box to make uses one 14500 battery that is the same size as a AA. You will need a connector, this is a small brass fitting that your atty or carto screws into. On the back of it you solder on one wire in the middle for the switch on one on outside for the ground. You then need a switch (button) the switch is wired to the battery via the metal peice that it makes contact with and the on/off switch. The box is a buck and a half or so and the switch and connecter are also in that price range. It takes about 5 spots to solder it in total. Plus you then need to drill holes for the switch and the connector. So you need a solder gun, solder and flux as well as a drill and bits. You will also need some resin or glue to hold in the connector and probably a bit for the battery contact. All in all it probably takes about an hour or so to make. they have a video that talks you through it posted on the site. You will also need batteries and a charger.

The advantage is that the batteries are easy to replace and they last a long time. 3.7 volts is nice and I would suggest buying a box of their 510 low resistance cartomizers. This is the combination that I am using right now. It rules. Oh yah and try out their liquids they are great. They key lime is my favorite all day vape followed by the very berry that I was also hooked on for quite a while. Their top vapor made in the USA juice is great.
