OK, I've now had my 510 for about 2 weeks. The first few days I was vaping non-stop with zero problems. New toy and all... High nic intake made it real easy to stay away from the analogs. Now that I'm not vaping as much (reasons are coming below), I need to up the strength.

Well onto the actual problem. After about 8-10 hit off of a cold atty, they flavor turns sorta nutty. Not pleasant at all when vaping blackberry, cherry, etc. I then have to wait a LONG time for the flavor to return.

Am I drawing too hard and getting the atty too hot? What else could be doing this? It's REALLY getting frustrating and not helping me totally kick the analogs.

Yup, I know this one. It is the batting. I noticed my 510 carts have come with a slightly stiffer batting as well as my latest 801 carts that have come with new kits (I just bought 2). The polyester is different than what I was getting in the 801 just a few months ago.

When the e-liquid is vaping off, this nutty flavor starts coming through. I usually have capuccino or tobacco flavors, so I don't find it horrible... but I do notice it more with say cherry or other fruit flavors.

I seem to notice it on my higher heat e-cigs (510 and I also notice it with my 801 on my passthrough). Not so much on the 801 with the regular battery.

When I taste it, I know it is time to top off the cart and put a drip on the atomizer of the 510.

You can go buy a bag or roll (what I buy) of polyester batting, and replace the filling in your carts. That should get rid of it.

BTW, I just found a product made of the same stiffer polyester material... it is used for women's facial care called Buff Puffs or Wonder Puffs (find those at the Dollar Store, they are a peach color). I also noticed the familiar nutty taste when I used it to fill a cartridge and the liquid started vaping away. If you decide to try these, make sure you buy the type that do not have any facial cleansing product on them!

I have not been impressed with the flavor of the 510 since day one and have had one 3 weeks or more now and still cannot get good flavor out of it. The unit has held up quite well still on same atty and my battery swap routine works well with a usb charger and a power pack, but I just cannot stand the low to awful flavor it puts out compared to a 901.

Lucky, I think the 510 IS a little different in how it vaporizes liquids and how it translates the flavors in the vape... I find strong flavors seem work best in them. I use menthol (in a separate atomizer, marked and only used for menthol) and the cappuccino in my 510s. Everything else I vape in my 801.

I like having the option of a big hit from the 510... LOVE it, but don't want to use it all day. I really find it to be a 2nd option for me and I use it on and off all day. 80% of the time, I grab my 801.

Have you tried changing out the batting in your 510 yet?
