Hi all,

I have a KFL+, an IGO-W and a whole bunch of clearomizers(that I dont use anymore).

I love my KFL+, and I am thinking about getting another, or another RBT/rba/clearomizer+tank. What are your suggestions/recommendations, and please provide pros/cons if you can. I know the russian 91% is great, but thats essentially a KFL+. What else is out there?

Thanks!

I'm still a genny fan at heart; although I do love my Kayfuns, Taifuns, and Squapes.
I have a Kraken on the way. It should be here tomorrow.

I agree when I first got the Kayfun and Taifun my genis started collecting dust. slowly as time went by I found my self pulling one then the other back out and adding them into rotation again
still love the Funs and they get used but I still vape my genis more.

the geni's with a good mesh wick just rule the roost for me, what is interesting to me is the way in general when all these alternatives started gaining traction geni's seems to drop off in popularity for a bit and sales, new versions and designs seemed to really slow down but suddenly they are pouring out in full force again. it just shows certain designs have stood the test of time and cemented their position in vaping.

The kayfun will always be a top contender and one of the best atty's ever, especially for people just starting in rebuildables looking for a reliable, killer vape with ease of setup. the guys over at Svoe mesto should be very proud of themselves, after KF ver 3.1 they have become a true staple in the vaping world, Basically becoming the CE4 of rebuildables.

I agree completely. I love my vacuum feed devices. But for me, my mesh gennys, particularly the DIDs, are my 'gold standard'.

Wonder if they still are your gold standard after trying out the Kraken. ;)

I prefer my gennies over the KFL. The Taifun and Squape and all those can be as good as they want to be. For me, the plastic tank (or steel) just puts me off. Especially on gear in the upper high end of the pricing range. That's one of the things that make me like the KFL less than I probably should. The other is that my last build is "fine", but starts to dry out the wick after 5-6 good puffs. I know that is very much user error and is all on my sloppy build. Point is... if it was a gennie, I could just empty the tank and poke a little... or re-coil it. With the KFL, I have to tear it all down, clean it up, re-wick and re-coil and then re-assemble and hope I didn't miss anything. For someone preferring gennies partly because of the very low maintenance, that's not how I like it to be. As I much prefer mesh wicks over fiber ones... it's a hazzle to go through for something I consider an inferior vape. Not inferior inferior... just less preferable. Why bother fixing the KFL when I got a handful of gennies ready to vape?

Very much nitpicking and personal preference. Just my honest opinion... in fear of exposing myself as lazy and/or not "getting" it. Just for the record: cotton is not for me. I can handle silica/ekowool, but cotton ... not my thing.

I found once the right amount of wick is figured out the kayfun does extremely well at wicking and take about the same time as a geni to set up. and with silica every couple days i just do a dry burn and keep going. to each his own and not raggin but you had to learn to tune the geni in the beginning as well im sure.

I have the krackhead coming too and im expecting it to be another Prometheus in regards to vape quality and function.

so far personally i have yet to find anything to compare to my gemini and megatron.

Don't know. I'm anxious to find out. I tried a friend's the other day, and I was pretty impressed.
I'm another one of those 'lazy hobbyists'. I'm not into fooling around with builds. I don't do dual coils, quad coils, vertical coils, U wicks, etc. I want simple, low maintenance, and whatever works. A year or so ago, I was into taking stuff apart, just to try something else. I'm over that. I just want to vape away on a good quality build. Changing out the cotton wick and doing a dry burn on a KfL, Taifun, or Squape, is a simple procedure. But I can also make a single wick, single coil, mesh genny build last for months, with only a dry burn every couple fills.

Indeed it took a whole lot longer for me to figure out the gennies. If I dare say so myself, I do set up a good KFL as well... only for my last build I didn't pay enough attention.

Ranting a bit about it made me want to get the KFL back in action, tho. Think it's time to try some ekowool/mesh combinations. Maybe I can get the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the great answers. To summarize

Kracken, Taifun GT, KFL+, squape, aqua are the recommendations so far.

Where do you buy them? I've looked for kfl+ and aqua over the past few days and I havent seen any for sale? They are all sold out.

Also with the taifun, i had a different question(maybe i should start another thread, cause i could not find an exact answer after hours of searching).

Do all ceramic cup devices need non resistive wire? Seems like divers etc need them, but the taifuns/rose dont?

For KFL+ in stock, call The Refined Vapor in Round Rock - they've got a few and have been very good to deal with. Reasonable prices too.

Most ceramic cup devices need NR wire. Check out Imeo's new ithaka base though - he's got a new setup for the Ithaka that doesn't require NR wire. The Ithaka is another fantastic atty.

Really good suggestions i think.

I particularily like about the Squape and the Taifun GT over the kayfuns is that you can always
access your coils, without having to empty the tank first... and the much easier refilling. Although i don't think there's a big
difference between them vapour/flavour/TH-wise.

So maybe try a really nice genny next? To try something different? The learning curve is steep, and the fiddle-factor
is high... they can be really frustrating. But the results are worth it. Alone the special crackle-sound they make is worth it imho.
I am happy with my D.I.D... Yet recently the Kraken... and especially the Dome do have me intrigued though.

That being said... i have 3 vacuum tanks and one Genny (original...). That tells you a bit about my preferences.

Is that you on the youtube video doing the review between both of them? Your video was what prompted me to get the kfl+!

Excellent points you make!

You, that'd be me :)

I made a followup video (it's on my channel) where I took a more in-depth look at the Taifun GT, and I gotta say, I'm still hard pressed if I have to choose between them.

One argument to go for the KFL or KFL+ over the Taifun GT, is the price... However, there are 1:1 clones out there that do an awesome job, at a fraction of the originals price.
