ive been loving my Vivi tank. ive gone through 4 fills, but im at the point now where id like to switch juices. i plan on using one of the replacemnt heads after i wash out the tank.

my question is what should I do with my used head? can i just stash it somewhere, or will it dry out and later become unusable...should i rinse it....should i leave it in a tiny container with the liquid that its been wicking?

what is the preferred procedure? i really hope i can use it later because i really want to switch up flavors now and be able to come back to it later :)

oh wow, i hadnt even thought of using the same head. i like the idea of that, much simpler. and i also appreciate the advice to place a drop of PG/VG to keep the coil from oxidizing. im glad i posted this becasue i didnt even know about coil oxidization. i think i'll use VG instead of PG. i feel like the thinckness of the VG will keep it on the head better. but i think im just gonna use the same head........yup, i am :D

i also did not know about the coil oxidizing thing...how quickly does that happen? I have some that I cleaned and dry burned then put aside...have I ruined them?

It probably takes weeks or months for the coil to reach the point of failure. Corrosion will weaken the coil and change its resistance. The placing a drop or two on the coil I got from another poster and it seems to make sense.

Hmmm... I'm a lot more casual about these things. And pathologically lazy. And cheap. I take off my heads when I want to change juice, and throw them into a plastic container. When I feel like it, or run short of new heads, I pour vodka into the container, let them soak for 24 hours (or until whenever I remember about them), rinse, and do the dry burn. It's probably a good idea to prime them, but I've never quite remembered to do that, and I've never had any problems, to be honest.

Like I said... Lazy. :D

In that case.... I'm efficiently lazy like Briar :D

I also disassemble, remove the head and drop it into a sealed shallow bowl full of PGA... put on a new head that I have in rotation, reassemble, fill and vape. The next day I'll take out the heads that were soaking and let them dry and finish them off with a dry burn ... then put them back into my rotation batch that I use.

Why not rebuild them? GV may be offering wick with wire pre-wound soon if they pass alpha. :toast:

I'm considering it ... but only after these heads I've got quit working. I got mine back around June 12, I have 6 heads in rotation and have only had one head die on me when I messed up during a dry burn once... A couple of the heads don't heat up very quickly now... so they are getting due a rebuild but they are still working.

Also... at only about $3 a head... I may just toss these aside in a box and rebuild later... when I don't feel so efficiently lazy of course... :D

I think i'm tainted on the clean and dry burn thing. My favorite juice is so thick (or sweet or something) that once the coils clog up nothing will get them clean again not boiling, peroxide, alcohol, efferdent (sp) ...... nothing.

Have you tried boiling with a heavy dose of white vinegar added to the water? Just thought I'd mention it 'cause this works to get burnt food off stainless steel pans. :)

Amazing - without even discussing it, we've developed the same procedure.

i ended up completely disassembling the tank and soaked it in super hot water. then i dried the parts with a hair dryer, put it all back together and loaded up my new juice. worked perfectly.

if i had a dirtier tank/atty head i would have soaked in vodka or PGA, but i had only put 4 tanks through that atty head so i figured i was good to go on just a rinse. very happy with my results.

:)

You could also get a needle, tweezers, or even the smallest size of jewelers screwdriver and gently run it along the length of the coil, not while firing it... Lol, and that will break p the gunk much fater. Be careful not to stick the sharp pointy object into the coil and possibly ruin the wick though.
