What to use for re-wicking

Hi all -- I'm interested in learning how to re-wick my rebuildable Stardusts. I looked at the how-to, and understand the process, but I'm curious as to what materials people have used in the past (the how-to was vague...unless I missed a good post on it). Is there anything available in local stores for this DIY project?

I rebuilt my Kanger T2 with a cotton wick. I used 100% cotton yarn (boiled first). It works great. Just don't let the wick dry out or it will burn up - no dry burning with cotton. I have some silica rope that I've used in the past, but I prefer cotton wicks.
