I'm still not sure why the V1 gets such a bad revue. I have 2 of the V1s, and granted, they need a little bit of tweaking with the positive post, but once that is done, they work pretty well. I think the main design theory with the side air holes on the bottom cap was to eliminate the possibility of not enough space at the mount point with some batteries. I also prefer the longer wicks, which I believe is part of the V2.5 offering now. Heck, you can rebuild the heads to whatever you want no matter what version, so other than the center post being too long, which can be filed down, I can't see what all the fuss is all about myself. Mine still work a treat after a few months of use.
