I've been reading and debating which way I want to go about getting a VV. Do I get an inexpensive box mod to see how it goes and then go to a higher end? Or just trust that I will love it and go high end right away?

If I do get one of the more expensive models which one?

Right now i'm kind of settling on the idea of a provari. It's a lot of money though so I am nervous to make the commitment.

What I'm looking for in a model in order of importance...
1. On/off button (I want to be able to throw it in my purse and not worry!)
2. Reliable! Warranty would be nice.
3. Initial startup around $200 is fine as long as upkeep is inexpensive.
4. Voltage display.
5. Stock 510 is preferred but not a deal breaker.
6. Comes in pretty colors. Again, not a deal breaker.

Can anyone tell me what you would suggest and why? Pros and cons? What type of setup you suggest with that model ie: cartos, tanks, attys? I'm not making this purchase until a month from now incase that would effect your recommendation for any reason.

Just want to make sure I haven't missed any important info before I make my final decision!

Thank you!

1. The Provari has an on/off feature, but IMHO it's kind of a PITA to use since you have to press the button 5 times, and then get to the correct menu, and then turn the device off. I haven't had any problems just throwing it in my pocket with it on, but I disconnect the carto from it and then throw both pieces in my pocket.

2. The Provari has a year warranty and you can extend it to a two year.

3. My Provari setup ran me $255.80. That was for the Provari, extension cap for the 18650 batteries, three 18650 batteries, charger for the batteries, and the two year extended warranty. Mind you this was for the satin finish one, which is cheaper than the couple of other finishes they offer.

4. On the Provari you set the voltage and it stays at the voltage until the battery is dead, so you get the same vape all of the way though the battery. You can also check the resistance of the atty/carto as well.

5. It's a 510 connection, but be aware of the juice well. If you use any kind of tank you may need a 510 to 510 extension to allow air flow though your atty/carto. Just as a note, I don't use any tanks, and never have, this is just something I have read here at ECF.

6. The Provari comes in a few different finishes. IIRC chrome and black.

Overall I'd recommend the Provari (although I haven't used any thing else except for an eGo). A few things not covered above would be that the an 18650 battery lasts me about one and a half days, and I'm a fairly heavy vaper. It's a bit on the heavy side, but that's something I like, it feels unbreakable. As far as upkeep goes, its the same as any other PV to my knowledge. Buy juice and your preferred juice storage/atomization container and go.

My suggestion, Buzz Pro from NotCigs.
1. On/off button (I want to be able to throw it in my purse and not worry!) Yep! 1/8th turn of the bottom cap shuts it off.
2. Reliable! Warranty would be nice. Yep! 6 month free warranty. Had my original Buzz since early Dec. without an issue and it bounces off concrete regularly.
3. Initial startup around $200 is fine as long as upkeep is inexpensive. Base is $140.00
4. Voltage display. Sorry, NotCigs has focused on performance more than frills on this one. A screw on digital volt reader is available for about $10.00 though.
5. Stock 510 is preferred but not a deal breaker. Any connecter you want. I ordered mine with a 510 cap.
6. Comes in pretty colors. Again, not a deal breaker. Blue, purple, black and silver anodized aluminum.

A battery and charger kit is $20.00 and another set of 3.7 V 16340 batteries is $9.00 so a Buzz pro with charger and two set of batteries is going to run about $169.00.
NotCigs' provides some of the best customer service I've come across as well.

BTW, I forgot to mention that the Pro series has a new regulator that is much more efficient than the old style and provides an average of twice the battery life as the old tech. Beta testers were reporting 12 to 18 hours on a single charge. The Buzz maintains a constant voltage through the charge cycle as well.

Mad Vapes has their VV box for under 35.00 .If you want to try out VV this is the least expensive route that I am aware of. They do run out quick but they restock just as fast.
that was the "inexpensive box mod" I was referencing. I just don't want to waste the money on that if I wind up buying a high end later. The hubby has a 5v box mod of theirs and the shape and feel...... I don't like. No offense to the product or anything it's great and inexpensive! Just not for me. I like shiny things.... Typical woman lol

Thank you! I didn't know the on/off feature worked like that! This is why I asked! How long have you had your provari for?

I bet you'll end up buying a more permanent VV mod. What's not to like? If you don't care for HV you can turn it down, or just up a little. I love mine. It's opened up a whole new range of possibilities.

You are referencing the buzz pro2? I just looked at that this morning.... Looks promising. Can you tell me how you personally find your voltage without the display?

That's what I'm thinking. People were saying you can crank it up for more TH instead of upping nicotine levels. Which I'm finding frustrating at the moment with my current setup. Swapping cartos and attys losing track of what's what.

I don't think you have to worry about wasting money, vv is the way to go and if you do go for a cheaper box mod first you can use it as a backup when you upgrade, always good to have a backup.

If you skip the basic box mod then I'd recommend the Provari or Buzz Pro which has just been released. The Buzz pro doesn't have the meter you mentioned but screw on meters are available for $10-$15.

Well it's again a question that will result in people telling you to buy their personal favorite and I am no different.

I like both the Provari and the Monkeyboxx but if I had to choose one it will be without a doubt the monkey. If size is an issue for you than go with the Provari and if size is no issue for you (monkey is great for a purse) I would always go with the monkey. I personally think the vape quality is much much better with the monkey over the provari I also think it is a big advantage that you have a 6ml bottle on the bottom of it which makes you carry less stuff around. The on/off switch is easy to reach and won't accidentally turn back on, the display is nice as well but as said Provari is a good choice and so is the monkey. Since I love my monkey so much more I would recommend the monkey.

I've had it for about a month now.
‪ProVari Menu Tour‬‏ - YouTube
There is a tour of the menu options on the Provari. At first it seems a little difficult, but I don't really use it much beyond checking battery voltage, and changing the voltage when I switch cartos.

I don't know how much I'd like a bottom feeder. the hubby got the revolution v2 and it just seemed like a hassle.

The Darwin has all of your requirements (colors are coming). Plus it has a full 2 year warranty at no charge. It has the longest battery life, 21+ hours for heavy vapers and it doubles as a pass-through. Never needing to carry extra batteries again is liberating. It also has a unique feature in that it senses the resistence change in the atty/carto as you vape and automatically adjusts the power level to maintain the warmth of the vapor to your personal setting.

You cannot compare a cheap China made unit with a Reo or Monkey that is just wrong. If you ever tried a Reo or a monkey you will see they function so different and with the VV that the monkey offers it is for me hardly beatable. Also I had the Provari and sold it asap I tried the monkey the draw is just so freaking amazing and so nice to use.

Again though whatever you feel is right will be the pv for you I like to have a 6ml bottle on my mod some people prefer cartos or to drop than the Provari would be your best choice.

some people recommend the Darwin I personally would put that device in last place because price is not justifiable to me also I heard there will be a new version and it just looks so weird but that is just me talking.

I really considered the Darwin vs the Provari. The only thing that turned me away from it was the swivel for the connector. To me it looked like it could break fairly easily, and the Provari just looked more durable. I really do like how you set the wattage on the Darwin and it automatically adjusts the voltage for you so, as you mentioned you get the same wattage between carts/cartos. From what I have read they are both very good devices, just a matter of preference.

I personally think the Provari beats the Darwin by a mile. This is just me talking and I have not tried both units for longer than 1-2 weeks but the darwin is just not the way to go price wise, durability, looks, vape quality I tink the Provari beats the Darwin in every category besides the warranty which is nice on the darwin.
