Perhaps this is it. IBTanked offers two diameter size tanks (19mm and 25mm), and both of those are offered in two lengths (standard and XL).

19mm diameter Standard= 1.5ml (uses a 35mm length carto) skinny tank

19mm diameter XL = 2ml (uses a 45mm length carto) skinny tank

25mm diameter Standard = 5ml (uses a 35mm length carto) wide tank

25mm diameter XL = 8ml (uses a 45mm length carto) wide tank

Does that make it more clear? Match the length of the cartomizer to the length of the tank, or visa versa. Most people who would want the wide tank have the larger mods like a Silver Bullet or Bolt.
