We will be trying to avoid things and shaking it up a bit? We never know what the holidays will bring as far as emotions....the first year after my nephew passed we all left the state during the holidays...last year my daughter had us over for the first time, this year I will be spending the day with my sister doing whatever she wants to do....she only had the one child, even at 22, yes he was a child....Friday night we may have some turkey at her house...but we're trying to do everything non-traditional....not sure if this will ever go back to the old normal. Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

Tracey

T, that is wonderful what you're doing with your sister. She's gonna need you for a long time to be able to cope and grieve during the holidays. It took me about 3-4 years where I got back to "normal" with the Holiday spirit after my Bailey passed. I get it, Totally get it. I'll be thinking of you, your sis, and nephew during the holidays. I know your nephew was a lot older than Bailey, so it's not the "same", but yet it is the "same." If that makes any sense. I wish I could give you and your sister big hugs and hang out with you during Thanksgiving. <3

xoxo,
Dani

I absolutely cannot wait until the day I have grandchildren. If they were as fun as my kids, I will be the happiest granny in the world. I.CAN'T.WAIT. I just need my son to find that right girl. Tsk Tsk.

So cute, Lynn! Nothing better. Love me some grand babies !

Me too Nanny! This one is my heart and soul! I'll give away his mama but he has to stay!! Love being a grandma!!!

I can wait. I have two daughters, neither BF is what I consider worthy of them. Over protective dad here, but it is the truth...

Beautiful and healthy children/grandchildren are a blessing. Watching my children sleep fills me with peace and hope.

Yes, they are your heart walking outside your body.

My son was such a stinker, always into things, getting injured, dirty, and nonstop activity. He wore me out a LOT of the time - and I always told him I would get my payback if he grew up and one day had TWINS just like him. I'll be darned if he didn't do it! Fortunately they are identical GIRLS, I doubt I would have made it through a set of boys. We watch the girls a few days a week and they definitely keep us hopping, but I would not miss a minute for the world. It's one of the greatest rewards a parent can receive. We spoil ours ROTTEN - cuz we can. And candy is our little secret - it's the LAW, grandparents MUST have candy.

My favorite quote :D

We'll be camping as far from any family we have! New thing this year, should alleviate all that stuffy stress and whatnot ;) So we'll be canoeing and doing some fun geocaching with the kids, hiking, fishing etc...little bit of beach time on the Atlantic side of Florida for a change. Restaurant is closed Thanksgiving and after SO many years of serving Turkey and Dressing to the masses we are enjoying doing it a bit differently!

T day supper fill be Pastallitos (Paraguayan empanadas), assorted fruits, cheeses, smoked meats and smoked turkey. Add some salad stuff and a few grilled veggies and we will be set. Homemade Ice Cream from one of those play and freeze ice cream balls that you roll around with the kids will finish it off with S'mores on a campfire. Found Kraft JUMBO marshmallows today at the store! These things are bigger than a golf ball! :D

Merry Thanksgiving to y'all, from the ~Soignee houshold!

We will be doing a small dinner at home this year. Since I'm still recovering from surgery I don't want to put anyone out having to worry about me being comfortable so we are cooking our favorite dishes here with just us two and the girls (dogs). I will miss some of my family but there are several people that I definitely won't miss

I'm sure my parents and sis will stop by and it will be great to visit with them for awhile but that is all the company I need.

We used to do quite a bit of geocaching. It's so much fun and camping is awesome as well. It sounds like you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy it!

Thank you Lynn, the kids sort of think of it as easter egg hunt with technology! Gives them a chance to use electronics without the video game part of it...

We hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving as well!!

Oh Brother! Is there such a thing as a Food Intake Stand In? I'm in hell week this week. Worked the last of 3 12hr days yesterday where my entire crew including myself prepared an 18lb turkey ( we have full kitchens on site) with all of the trimmings only to come home and enjoy crab fettuccine with some family and friends. I am now in a bit of a fog as I my have over tipped the wine and single malt scotch a bit and now my wife and I are loading up the wiener girls and heading off to Sonoma for Ham with scalloped potatoes and greens with the family. I then will return tomorrow in the early afternoon so that I can turn to and start the first of three 12hr nights! Ah, rest is over rated anyway!

Good grief! You are going to need a forklift to move you about after eating all that food!
