I was never able to get a good SS Mesh setup without hotspots/grounding galore. I would either wick with P&C yarn or regular cotton, nothing below .5ohms, as that seems to burn the wicks a little too fast for me. A lot depends on juice, though: ratio and flavors determine how fast the coils gunk up and need wick changes and dry burns.

The Kraken was my first Genny. Well its my only one also. Lol when I first got it. I wasn't to happy with it. I couldn't get mesh to work for me. Cotton was OK. But I wanted to try mesh. I used the mesh that comes with it from fasttech. Cut it in half so the lines run the long way. That is supposed to help wicking. Then oxidize the mesh. Next I roll it on a paperclip to keep the mesh like a straw with a hole in the middle. I make the wick so it small enough to fit in the whole. Then I torch the wick again. Then I put juice on it and burn it off with a lighter several times. Then I use 28g wire to wrap 5/6 dual coils around the wicks. That's 5 loops looking at one side and 6 from the other. Comes out around .7 ohms. After pulsing the mod to work out the hot spots. Its a warm flavorful vape. I plug he fill who with a piece of cotton yarn. I don't get dry hits or leaking with this setup. Wicking is great as long as u keep the wicks open like straws. Standing upright and firing the mod. U can see bubbles coming out the bottom of the wick. I have layer it on its side and not a drop leaked. I have a t my kayfun away because my Genny doesn't leak. And my kayfun will from time to time. Also I prefer the warmth and density of the kraken more. I hope this helps those having problems setting theirs up. And I'm using 50/50 VG/pg mostly. So I can't say how this will work with higher VG juice. I am about to order some 80/20 juice. So I hope it works as well.

My current build is 26ga microcoil, wrapped around a 14ga syringe needle, 6/7 wraps for .75ohms. Compressed and torched... mounted, then fired and adjusted. Then #400 mesh rolled carefully to the perfect size.... Basically, you want to be able to spin it into the coil with a bit of resistance. I then torch the mesh red hot, and dash in water... About three times. Torch the residual water off. Insert the mesh into the coil, careful not to make any scratches on your oxidizing job.

I got lucky with this build, and only had a slight rise in resistance. When I pulsed the coil, I had just two little shorts on the top and bottom wraps.. Two more pulses and they fleshed themselves out. Resistance now read exactly the same as without the mesh, and the coil heated evenly from the inside out.

Great flavor, great vapor, seems
to wick great with 50/50... Will leak a bit if held horizontal or passed, but I keep it vertical unless I'm currently pulling on it, so it's a non-issue.

Best build on the Kraken I have, I use stainless steel rope (7x19), with an ekowool sleeve at the top. 5/4 wrap of twisted 28 awg wire. I measure the rope, place it in the wick hole, place the ecowool, pull it all out of the tank, wrap the coil on the wick, around the ekowool portion, put it all back in and attach the coil. Dry burn it and adjust the coils so they light up right, add juice and vape. Coil gets gunked up? Empty the tank, dry burn (Pulsing the coil) until the ekowool turns white, add juice, vape.
