I'm officially over 1 week analog free for the first time in 22 years!! Don't miss it at all, but I have a new problem. I want more gear. I did the same thing when I moved to the beach and got into fishing. I love me a good hobby.

Should I start with a rda or rta to graduate from my aspire stuff.

I really sound like a teenager (no offense), but I'm really excited that I'm not smoking, and I love to learn as much as I can about things I'm into.

You have all been a big inspiration to me on my journey to quit cigarettes.

Any dripper that isn't designed for more than 2 coils should suit you just fine (if it has post holes arranged in a circular instead of linear fashion, it's probably meant for multiple coils).

My first dripper was one of these, a tiny little Trident clone. Small, single or dual coil, and super reliable. My girlfriend used these exclusively for a while, and I still use them for testing flavors, as it's very easy to center builds and wick.

I have a wider variety now, and I'm a big fan of my Plume Veil clone. It's nicer for dual coils, has considerably more airflow, but can be a bit on the leaky side. Very user-friendly, and has a nice mix of flavor and vapor. Easily the most capable of producing vapor, of what I'm listing. It also has a dodecahedron on it, which easily makes it my favorite atomizer (although it would be without that).

A nice, straightforward dripper would be a Magma, and here's the clone I own. It's collecting dust because it's not very airy, but that could make it nice for mouth-to-lung inhales, the conventional cigarette-style of vaping, which most people do at first, then transition to "direct to lung" when you get an atomizer that can accommodate it, like the Plume Veil. Oh, I should mention that the magma is top-notch as far as flavor goes, definitely the best I've listed.

Lots of people started on some kind of IGO, but I've never owned one. All of the above have adjustable airflow, which is nice. They're also very common drippers, classics, if you will. That means you can find plenty of build videos, or threads here on ECF. Well, the trident actually isn't in that category, it's just what got me started. Kinda common, probably more so in the past.

There are no shortage of RDAs, and as long as it's not too fancy (I'm looking at you, veritas), it should be perfectly good for a first time.

ETA: Oh, and congrats on being smoke free! Fantasizing about what kind of vape gear to buy next is definitely 70% of what kept me smoke-free for my first several weeks, puffing on my ego :)

From personal experience, RDAs are easier to build on than RTA as the deck is generally larger and the post configurations can be much easier to work with.

Personally I find my Mutation X (I have the XL) and Infinite CLT are the easiest of my atties to build on.

^^Pretty solid advice there!^^^
I have a handful of RDA's and a Kayfun. I find the RDA's to be more open and easier to maneuver around.
The easiest one I have is probably the Reomizer 2.0... it's small, single coil design but wide open and straight up simple.
Of course, if it's not riding on top of a Reo, then it's not for you... :D

First off, super congratulations on kicking the stinkies to the side! Aint it a hoot!

Indeed itis easiest to start off with RDA's over tanks.

I've always felt the Igo-L is one of the most straight forward, economical, and simple to build RDA's. Lots of deck room, large holding capacity, great vape and one of the best drip tips in the business.

Welcome and again congratulations!

Another vote for rda... With most tank setups there is a lot more that can go wrong (takes time to figure out wicking for a given tank). Rda you drip strait on the coil/wicks, so no fussing with juice feed issues. Also the build deck on 22mm RDAs (standard) is a lot easier to work on than any rta I've seen.

I'd say get something with a simple deck, like a 3 standard 3 post atty - stillaire and tugboat come to mind. Make sure it has a single coil option as you will want to start there. Even easier for when you start doing dual coils is something with a T block on the center post like the Helios or infinite clt. Watch some review videos on YouTube and you will get a feel for what you may want. Most reviews show you how to build it too... Well, one way to build it anyhow :)

Get a spool of kanthal (100' - Amazon has them for like $10) of 28 or 26 ga if you haven't already. You will probably be ripping out builds a lot your first few months of building... Likely just to try something new.
While you are on amazon, pick up a giant back of Japanese cotton pads... I got like 200 sheets for $10. Pads are easier to work with as you can cut them to size very easily... Cotton balls are a pain in my opinion, and the Japanese organic cotton has no taste and wicks better in my experience.

Hope this helps and best of luck to you! Welcome to the party :)

Are you a mouth to lung inhaler or do you prefer to inhale directly into your lungs? If you're the former then you'll want an RDA with adjustable airflow or something fairly restrictive to start.

Igo W is always my recommendation, dirt cheap, easy to use. The Magma or the Trident are also good for adjustable airflow.

Well, I started on an istick with nautilus tank. Used that for mouth to lung. Picked up an ipv mini with an Atlantis tank and hit that right to the lungs. I get way more flavor off of that, and that's what I'm looking for. Also realized that I'm comfortable with 12mg on the Atlantis setup as opposed to 18 on the nautilus.

Try the Mutation X v2. It's really easy to build on and can be bought for around $30.00. I was using a Tobh Atty clone that I bought from my local shop. It was good for about month and then the screws stripped out. Anyway, the mutation is an authentic and is my favorite atty right now. I just bought a Hobo v2.1 and I find myself using my Mutation more than the Hobo. I just can get a good build on it that works for me.

If you can buy an Authentic for $30 I would stay away from the fast tech clones. It's hit or miss with them but in any case it will take weeks for you to get your item. Go to your local shop and they should be able to hook you up. Good Luck!

FastTech has the marquis for just a bit cheaper:

$11.85 Marquis Style RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - stainless steel / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

(Get this one rather than the one that's a dollar more). Mine's on the way so can't comment on ease of build.

You should also take a look at the nucleus:
$11.13 Nucleus Style Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - stainless steel / gold plated at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

It's an unusual configuration, but the whole coil part comes off so you can build it outside the well.

I also like the Plume Veil and the N22:
Found 21 N22 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

And my next one will probably be the freakshow (except it's pretty ugly!)

Well, quick update. I picked up a mutation x v2 at my local shop today for $28. Built my first single coil setup. The coil itself didn't look to awful. I was shooting for 1 ohm and it weighed in at .96 on the meter and .9 on the mod. Pretty happy about that.

My wicking skills are pretty much nonexistent, but I'm sure they'll come with time. Bottom line is the whole thing worked right out of the gate, so.....cool!

Btw, those screws on the mutation x are a bunch of crap. Can those be changed to a Phillips, maybe?

Are they grub nuts/Allen screws? Rip trippers claims they make a better connection and are less likely to back out on you like Philips.
