Voltage and wattage depends on the resistance of the coil. This picture is a good starting point.

I have a Vamo V2 and I really enjoy it.

I like the Vamo v2 and v3, both are good devices. I usually vape on 6-8 watts for 1.7 ohm atomizers/cartomizers, and 8-10 watts for 2.0 to 3.0 ohm standard resistance ones. Juices vape differently depending on what device you are using, some burn easier than others and some can really take the heat so higher wattage is nice. I find fruit vapes are better for higher wattage.

I'm just shy if a month into this myself, so I guess technically that makes me a noob as well :)
I've been rocking the vamo v3 for about 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. Variable voltage + variable wattage, different extension caps so you can rock it in 18350 "shorty" mode, 18650 "home" mode (that's how I use it anyway) or put on both with stacked batts and vape from a personal safety device lol.
There are a lot of choices, I just found for the price the vamo is a great starter vv/vw mod. Or if you're not sure you wanna take the leap you could try a twist or spinner style ego batt which will allow you to get accustomed to variable voltage. I would, personally, just go right for the vamo though. I have and couldn't be happier.

Many noobs find that they like a little less power when first starting to vape, so don't be surprised if you like something around 6 watts instead of 10.
Here is an easy way to figure how much wattage you are vaping at. Ohm's Law Calculator All you need to know is 2 of the 4, and the calculator will do the rest.

There are a lot of good PV's to choose from, and there are also a lot of different ways to use almost any of them. So have fun, and explore some of the different ways vaping can be done.

Very good point right here. I have the option of vw with the vamo, but still find myself in voltage mode 9.9 out of ten times. Usually start around 3.7v and work my way up in 0.1 increments til I find my sweet spot for each juice and/or tank. Some juices I like turned all the way up (apple cinnamon for example), others I feel taste better in the lower range (chocolates, coffees).
Everyone can offer their suggestions, but ultimately taste is very subjective so you'll have to play around and find whatever suits you best.
