Sarge, you should put "Moved On" as Uba's title, but not ban him, just the title. That will get people talking.
I did that to my wifes account but slipped and gave her the RIP title. people started sending me cookies and flowers. I even got a date.

Lesson learned-- I would never do that to Uba :)

Now, wait just a doggone minute, j0ker. In the 3 1/2 years that I have been here, I have managed to avoid even getting a warning. It's good to have friends in high places.

Kiss my <avoiding an infraction body part reference and substituting the word-> grits.

I got an infraction for something once and I didn't even think it was "infractible" (?). So...I guess you just have to dress up as a phoenix. Then, you're safe. Or maybe a fire dragon (similar, but not to be confused with a phoenix...a bird that regenerates.) I'm not sure the person that gave me the infraction has the discernment to distinguish so you'd still be safe with the fire dragon.

I think they just roll the dice daily. You've just been lucky. It's an admin/mod form of D&D.

:D

A little common sense goes a long way toward "surviving" ECF. A quick scan of the rules regarding shilling and signatures, profanity, explict language/images, Copyright (if you like to post article extracts) and a little application of Netiquette = clear sailing at ECF.

And much like "real life", just remember that publicly challenging an unjust, heavy-handed, or unequal application of the "law" can often result in a more vicious and draconian punishment than the spanking you got for the original "infraction".

"Authority" only hate one thing more than disregard for their "rules"--public challenges to their self-annointed "authority", and showing how ridiculous some "enforcements" are using things like logic, their own words, or the rules themselves to prove it...

Just remember that a rule reminder or even an infraction is not the end of the world. What it does is give you an indication of where you went astray and creates a paper trail for the staff so that we can keep track of the issue. Hell you should see Spaky's list of infractions - it is long and detailed and he ended up being put on the staff. I think Angus chose that as a better punishment for him than being banned :)

To date, it's probably the most evil thing I ever did as Forum Manager. ;)

Angus has moments of sheer brilliance.

Mind if I quote you? I've been saying that for years!

That guy is such an ...! I should have given him more infractions when he was green.

You snooze, you lose!

If I go to my boss and have a chat with him because I disagree with a decision he made, conduct myself in a professional manner, and keep a civil tongue in my mouth, chances are the worst that will happen is that we will agree to disagree.

However, if I stand in the middle of the office and yell loud enough for everyone to hear that he's wrong and a nazi, I'll most likely get booted out the door by security.

One is a disagreement, the other is a disruption. Most adults can grasp the concept.
