I just ordered VTR. Can you tell me what this spinning ring thingy is so I can see when mine gets here if it is the fixed version? Thanks so much for any info.

On a side note, I have come to the conclusion this buying a new mod thing never ends does it: ) I have only had my MVP and SVD maybe a week. Love the MVP hate the SVD lol But the VTR caught my eye so I went ahead and ordered it today. Sigh

Very nice job with your dremel btw.

I think I need to add a signature to my posts: Hello, my name is Debbie and I gave up analogs in August 2013. To date I have saved $$$........................NADA....................LOL I sure am having fun though

Hi Debbie. The spinning ring (or hopefully not) is around the 510 connection. It originally spun so that when you turned it, it tightened your tank without turning the tank itself. Does that make sense? Kind of line a garden hose. It was causing a lot of connection and ohms reading issues. Particularly a problem if you used it in wattage mode.

One review of the VTR said it was made of brass, which is why it's so flippin' HEAVY! I've considering buying a VTR, but the 19mm restriction stopped me. Hey Innokin, make VTR v2 out of stainless (lighter), with larger tank capacity! I still may buy it now that there are options for modifying. I wonder if someone could sell retrofit top plates with a larger top band.

To late to ask for VTR V2 to be lighter its here already. They just fixed the spinning connector because there had been issues with people getting bad resistance readings due to poor connection of this piece.

Ive been considering doing this with the ring. Saw it done on youtube seems pretty straight forward with a dremel. All I've done so far is refinish mine with a flat black paint job to replace the green that I soon got tired of 2014-05-12 15-50-38.191.jpgvtrblack4.jpg

Very inspiring post... So I had to dremel mine as well!

Using a Taifun GT clone so I had a bad surprise once the dremel job was finished on the VTR... This model has a small relief band on the base that adds something like half a mm, I had to dremel it as well.

I'm not a person with astonishing manual skills and it actually was the first time I worked with a Dremel... I still need to do some polish but I'm pretty please with the result. I was tired of hanging around with a badass mod like a VTR that looks like a walkie talky because of the adaptor.

That is a VTR V1 with the spinning connector. I had problems with the ohm reading but since I dremeled it, the ohm reader now always gives the same reading... Could it be considered a fix?

Also, a lot of people seems to be concerned about that spinning wheel being loose without the ring. Mine was doing so with the adapter on, but now the atty won't move at all.IMG_0016.jpgIMG_0015.jpgIMG_0014.jpgIMG_0017.jpgIMG_0019.jpg

I don't know if it's the best place to post such a message, but feel free to copy paste it to a more appropriate topic if needed.

So I have a V1 VTR, the one with the spinning wheel on the 510 connector. Since the last 5-6 months I had problems with 2 of my favorites flavors literally burning in the atomizer chamber. Those flavors are Double RY4 and DK Tobacco. I had to switch flavors as any fiddling on my atomizer wouldn't help at all (I'm using a Taifun GT clone from FT).

It looks like since I dremeled the VTR, the problem is gone. Many people are saying that the spinning wheel will give erratic ohm readings, which was my case (going from 0.8 to 4.8 ohms for a 1.0-1.1 ohm coil). As mentioned in my previous post, this problem is now gone. It looks like in my case, the wrong reading came from the use of the adapter.

I red somewhere to use the V1 VTRs in VV mode instead of VW mode to bypass such a problem, which I only red about a few days ago. My guess is that the erratic readings paired with the VW mode made the device hit way too hard at some point, therefor making some flavors burning.

Search for "Base and contact screws burning juice? " on the Taifun GT FastTech forums to have a more detailed description of my problem.

Again, thanks a lot for sharing this amazing mod idea. In my case, it was way more than a comfort modification. I was about to trash both of my 4 oz concentrated flavors bottle as I thought the problem came from a bad batch of flavor concentrate... I'm more than please to realize that I won't have to do so.

So far, I went through a full tank of DK 80VG at 15W without any burning issue. Before the VTR modification, juice would burn even at 7 or 9W.
