Hey everyone. So I've been vaping for nearly a decade and been very stubborn about change (Nautilus tank -> Triton tank -> iSub V Tank). While I was MTL vaping I was using 18mg juice which I believe is fairly standard. Then when I moved to direct lung vaping I had to drop the nicotine level, as expected. My go-to coils have been the KAL BVC 0.5ohm's for my iSub V tank - which I vape at 54.5W with 6mg of nic. I picked up a baby beast fairly recently and tried the various coils and decided on the T8's (0.5ohm's octuple) where 70W was the sweet spot. So... I found using it with my 6mg juice was giving me a major buzz so I used it sparingly. Today I finally managed to get some 3mg juice for it. Well guess what? It's still kicking my ..... What's going on? I chain vape my iSub setup all day.

My this got long winded.....

I find the airier and more wires involved I have to lower the nic in my mixes. I'm having to adjust for lower nic in my drips as well but the 8mg is still fine in my rtas. I've decided to cut my 3mg base to 1.5mg.

These effects will wear off as your tolerance to them increases. Nothing to worry about, unless you're getting seriously over dosed on nicotine. I've been vaping 6mg for the longest time and on my last batch of diy I decided to experiment a little. Upped nicotine to 9mg. No real reason, just curious. For starters, I got a little buzzy off it. Like when I first started smoking years ago. No other negative effects except occasional harshness . Now, 70ml into a 100ml batch, I don't notice the increase at all. Sub ohm vaping gives more nic per hit, even at low nic level juice just because you're taking in more vapor per hit. But the minor negative effects will go away shortly.

IMO, your answer is in the differences between the 2 coils and the wattages you're vaping at with each of them. If you want to continue using the T8's at 70W...you may need to go down to 1.5mg nic, as Letitia mentioned earlier.

Also, you might want to try the Eleaf HW series coils in your baby beast...instead of the T8's. Vape shops here have pretty much quit carrying the Smok coils for the beast tanks, because of a bunch of complaints about them. There are 4 different Eleaf HW series coils that will work in them, for various wattages. Friends who use them now say they last longer than the Smok coils, too.

I'm going to concur with others (especially if you are nic sensitive) that it's not as simple as MTL vs. DL, some folks have to tailor their nicotine to each and every individual setup and/or coil.

I will also state that probably you might adjust but there is also NO rationale to becoming "vape tolerant" to a nic level you genuinely do not NEED. So go down until you are feeling things are comfortable and it may be an issue of pairing certain nic level juices to certain individual coils. I'm not sure if I would "wait for my body to adjust" to a higher nic level if I could get away with a lower one and etc.

Best of luck,

Anna

I've been using vaporesso coils and they are the cat's meow. Perfect fit in a smok tank

Wow thanks all. I'm going to try knocking out a general response here without having to quote everyone and take up an entire page.

It's comforting to hear possibly having to go down to 1.5mg nic isn't that uncommon (I thought I might be going crazy when this all started). One thing I didn't note was that my new juice (my first 3mg trial) is horrible which I suppose could be contributing. Dollarejuiceclub stuff and it really feels tailored to MTL vaping (despite youtube reviewers), definitely not premium juice.

I do kind of see the point of “getting used to it” - that said it would mean vaping it in moderation which is something I don’t want to have to do. I’m an unapologetic chain vaper junkie and I just can’t change or have any desire to!

I’ll look into alternate coils - nice to hear I have options from alternate manufactures. What would I be looking for to mimic my isub kal bvc? 0.5? Dual coil? Nice list here of compatible coils from other manufactures: Different Tanks, But Same Coils: Coils That Are Interchangeable

Cheers!

If you are open to less coil mass that will be your solution. If you want to go back to something like the v8 coil lowering nic is pretty much your only real option.

Sorry for my "dumbs" but i'm going to ask this anyway... Does more coils mean a harder nic hit (assuming one stays within the recommended wattage)?

More mass generally requires more power, more power equals more nic hit. Read coil specs and stay close to the specs of the coils you like. Go to the brand websites to get a good look at the coils so you can compare the af and number of wires used. The resistance is not what you need to be looking for, draw and mass are key in this instance.

If the juice in question is just nasty tasting, I wasn't suggesting you tough that out by any means. Pawn that crap off on some unsuspecting friend an go get some good stuff...

everyone already said anything I would have but for me I vaped 18mg juice and MTL tanks for years and when I switched to direct to lung with a baby beast at 70 watts (the sweet spot for me as well) I had to drop to 6mg juice and I too was getting a bit more of a nic rush but I adjusted to it easily. Now it feels normal to me and I don't think I could ever go back to MTL vaping.

Oh I know you weren't I just thought maybe that played a role somehow. Bad quality juice indeed but I really should have expected that from a budget manufacturer... Having researched things a bit more I switched over to the Q2 coil I got with it originally (was less preferable to me because it was more flavor oriented than vapor) and presto...no issues whatsoever at 6mg!

@Snicks - Q2's?
