 I have ordered liquid from a many of places. My latest orders were from:

mtbaker- had a flower taste to them- some seeping has more flavor but still the flower taste. they did send a free
sample of fluid 10ml that was like awesome if i liked "raz shake" and could take the flowers with it. lol

valuevapor- ordered different liquids they have different suppliers i guess, ordered from 2 different ones- the 3 i got
from hangsen had a retched peanut/rubber smell-taste. seeped and still has the same it will be tossed
if seeping doesnt get rid of the smell its very perminating and just makes you want to run away..
the e-liquids for 3.99 were good. also ordered the wrong cartomizer and they exchanged it, waiting for
new one plus a diff type of liquid. excellent service just avoid the hangsen from them.

ecblend- got several small flavors from them to try but had a weird taste couldnt put my finger on. did get a small
sample with theirs.

rawr vapors- has my best vaps so far- i only got 2 small flavors and a small heaven tears to add to my existing flavors
no weird taste in these. so its got my thumbs up. they also sent a small sample that was nic-0.

I have 2 local places we also buy from one has a weird taste to theirs but i keep going back because he adjust the flavors if i dont like them, after reading the diy i now see i can actually attain the stuff i need to do it myself, the other place my hubby loves their polar ice which weve yet to find anything remotely like it but i dont care for their prices nor their service.:glare:

So here is my question (sorry so long winded to get to it)
What gives all these juices these weird taste- is it the vg or pg or maybe a mix of both? I'm asking this because I'm thinking of doing the DIY and just making our own juice. And have been looking at diff places to get the starter kits, but i dont want to get funky under flavors. Does anyone have ideas about this? is there a type i should be looking for or staying away from~ anyone who has some and found out it was bad etc. Thanks!:)
The places i have looked at the diy kits so far are one stop diy shop and house of vapors. I would love responses from people that have used the product/ juices and can tell me what the taste/ under tones are or other places that might even be better.

It could be the fresh vs steeped juice delema. I DIY all my juice now. Prior to that I bought from a vendor who would steep his juices for a month + before he would even sell them. Many flavors need time to blend with the vg/pg/and nic. Some have additives and alcohol used in extraction that tastes very funky in juice. Tobaccos and Vanillas often need steep time. Sometimes fruits less.

Case in point, when I started DIY I mixed a complex Root Beer float. It had rootbeer, a mix of 3 vanillas, and some EM (cotton candy) for a sweetener. I now have all my mixes steep for a minimun of a week, but he wanted it right away and tried it after a day. He said it tastes all wrong, all artificial. Somewhat plastically. I put it on the end as a failure. After 3 weeks he tried it again and told me it was the richest creamiest root beer flavor ever and he wanted me to mix up 100ml of it on the spot. This time he let it steep a month before he tried it. It is one of his all time favorites.

Also what you need to be aware of, each vendor uses different vg/pg/ and nic. The quality of the components can also impact on the flavor of the vape. You don't know if a vendor is using quality PG/VG or are they using Humco VG from Walmart and PG from Tractor Supply. I've used several types from different suppliers and there IS a taste difference. However I doubt a juice vendor will tell you where they get their VG, PG, or Nic from.

As for polar ice. Mix some TPA Mint Candy + FW Extreme Ice + TPA Koolata + a little menthol and it'll blow you across the room.

Yes the base PG and VG from different vendors can have very distinctive flavor that different people can either detect or not. It is one of the frustrating things about finding the right ejuice. Fresh VG and PG can smell/taste like rose water and overtime it disappears. Some folks may not notice it.

Instead of getting a DIY kit, I'd start with a small bottle of VG and/or PG first and see if the taste bothers you. VG can be made with different vegetable oils like palm, coconut, etc. and they never specify, so that too may be what you are detecting. WHen I first got PG from The Flavor Apprentice, I thought it had a strong rose water/perfume smell, but the same bottle is fine now. It smells like nothing.

You might try giving your flowery flavored juice some air and time for it to dissipate. Samples may be much older than freshly made juice.

You may be tasting the base carrier of the flavors. Try letting the juices air out: store in a safe place with the lids off for a day or two. This lets alcohol evaporate off.

I wonder if that is what I am tasting. I didn't know if it was because I burned it with my Vivi Nova, or what exactly. But, I have noticed twice that half-way through the bottle, all the taste seems to disappear and what I have left really tastes bad and yeah, kinda like alcohol.

I had also wondered if it was because I didn't shake the bottles at the start. Anyway, something is wrong.

And this is good stuff. It is from VirginVapor.

So, should you take the caps off of all the bottles you buy for a few days?

yea I have been letting the ones that i cant even touch air out~ i even put them in bigger bottles to maybe get some better airflow going :pop: hoping that one day i can eventually vap them or at least modify them to be usable lol :D I will air the others out as well was thinking of just letting them seep but that makes sense

Your post brought back memories from when I started vaping. I would order, hate it or love it, and half way through the bottle I would change my mind. Repeat with different vendor. Same results. Repeat with different flavors. Same results. ick, ick and more ick. End result was I had quite an assortment of e-juice sitting in a box in the closet.

My taste buds were changing faster then my wallet and juice suppliers could keep up with them! Eventually my taste buds settled down and I discovered I had a box full of pretty good juices sitting on my closet shelf.

Like folk have said -- try letting them steep for a while. Take the lids off and pop them in a dark closet for a week or three. You can also try a method I use if you have am ultrasonic cleaner. Open the jars and take the inner lids off, place the jars in a small plastic container that will fit inside the cleaner, fill cleaner with water until the container just starts to float, run for 7 or 8 cycles. That should help a lot...
