There is certainly no shortage of USA made e-liquid vendors these days; many of them are making fine juice that people are head-over-heels in love with. But, I tend not to stray too far from my normal vendor, because many others don't disclose much about their products at all. They don't specify the ingredients they use, and we know little or nothing about the environment in which our juice is mixed..

I don't think many E-juice vendors get it... we want to be informed consumers! I personally wouldn't buy food without an ingredient, or product warning label on it. Why should E-juice be any different?

Let's face it... people are people. There are good people in the world, and there are bad people. I'd like to think that all E-juice vendors care about their customers, but statistically there must be those who would steal grandma's dentures for $5 or sell us juice that they themselves wouldn't vape for long periods of time.

With that said... Why:

Many e-liquid vendors claim they don't use diaccetyl. They all know it's important to us, why won't they put it in writing on their websites or product labels?

Why won't many E- liquid vendors post photos of their mixing rooms?

Why won't many E- liquid vendors specify whether their "glycerin" is "vegetable" or "animal"? I don't want to vape animal anything!

Why won't more e-liquid vendors offer glass bottle?

Just ranting... Your thoughts?

This has been brought up a few times and it's hard not to agree. Some places are making a little headway in regards to this. Mostly because people have been complaining. I noticed the other day that Madvapes posted pics of their laboratory set up. Very nice, .... and span.

I know how you feel about the subject. I think I watched too many Gordon Ramsey shows. LOL. I make my own juice and it's partly for this reason.

I agree. I also want to know the ingredients of anything that I consume, especially when I'm inhaling it.

Every ingredient should be listed (It can't be that hard because there are usually only about five). We don't need to know your secret recipe, but a clear list of base and flavouring ingredients should be provided on each bottle.

I have no inside info, but I'd guess that it's a young industry and give them a bit of push and enough letters and emails and they will start. Especially if we mention that it's much better if they start behaving nice and regulating themselves before some government agency come to "regulate the field". That won't do any good to them nor to us.

I gave up on the whole thing a long time ago. DIY for me. Although I won't know every chemical in my DIY juice... at least I have a rough idea of what goes into it. Having some minor food allergies motivated me. Now if I have a problem with a flavoring or base, I can swap it out without playing "e-juice roulette" with the vendors. It also saves $$$. Their loss, my gain.

The nic base comes in a glass bottle or PET. Who knows about all the plastics in this e-cigs stuff...bottles, cartos, drippers....

I've had some VG that gave me mouth irritation. Probably coconut vs other source, but I have no way to know for sure. Swapped it out and no more problems. So even all-veg or not won't tell you much.

I'm not posting a photo of my DIY mixing area. :D

You don't know the full ingredients on anything. Look at something in the cupboard. "Artificial Flavors" is a catch-all. There are other catch-all's too.

I don't want to get into the regulation/testing quality-control discussion right now since I'm having a nice quiet morning. And it's an election year and there's already enough discussion about regulation/deregulation to choke a ...entire population.

Some variation of:
1) Nicotine base
2) PG
3) VG
4) Artificial flavorings
5) Water
6) Ethyl Malto
7) PGA

That's all you'll get. What does it tell you?
You want a chemical breakdown? I wouldn't understand one even if I had one.

Not picking on you in particular, but... we just don't know half the ingredients on anything anyway.

I think some of the labs aren't all that impressive...

... so they keep them to themselves.

I honestly don't sweat it that much. I KNOW what smoking was doing to me and others for over 30 years, I have NO doubt that vaping is MUCH better and safer. There is no motivation whatsoever for ANY vendor to use dangerous anything in their mixes it would be counterintuitive to do so . There was no internet during the moonshining boom, I'd say IF there were a net community devoted to that, however some bad practices would have never went on, people talk and you get "found out" you'd be out of business really quickly.

It's kind of Funny.

The FIRST e-Liquid I every bought was in Late 2009. It was from Johnson Creek and it came in a Glass Bottle.

I still have the Bottle and it has been Reused Many Times.

I'm really happy with most of the e-liquids I've bought. May not like them all, but can't say I've had an issue with any vendor I've purchased from.

Sure beats what I was doing to myself.

I'm not consuming any of the chemicals I did previously-

http://quitsmoking.about.com/cs/nicotineinhaler/a/cigingredients.htm

I'm no longer inhaling bacteria either-

But if you're super picky, purchase some glass bottles and try DIY.

As far as vendors, no they aren't perfect. But most started out where you are, started vaping, tried DIY and found they had a knack for it and started a little business. I'm a bit jealous.

There's a brick and mortar here in Miami that I buy a decent amount of my juices from (they make their own juice). They don't really list their ingredients but the guys who work there vape their own stuff most of the time. I think if the people making and selling it are vaping it then they must be confident in its "safety." That is just my opinion, though. Nobody really knows just how safe vaping is yet, but it sure beats the hell out of smoking the real stuff.
