Ya, that's kinda vague, but I guess I'm asking what can go wrong. Maybe it's just dead (?)
FWIW, this is a Sig Kick clone. The rest of the chain works fine; no kick I get a vape, insert kick and I get nothing. I've gone back and forth several time to make sure it's not just coincidence something else is failing. It's the Kick.
I think I understand the pin on the side has to make contact. I've used tape and paper opposite the pin to make sure it's contacting and contacting firm.
Is there anything else to check before declaring the kick has kicked the bucket?

PS, I've used two batteries both metering at 4+ volts. So the kick isn't shutting off on purpose; or shouldn't be anyway.

TIA

The kick is just a few weeks old.
Heat? hmmm, funny you should ask. I had a spring collapse in my Sig #23, but I don't know when. That's another mystery I didn't consider might be related. Don't even know if it happened with the kick in or out. Not to go off on a tangent... I hear people talking about collapsing springs, but I thought that was for the sub-ohm hot rods. Could a mod with a 2ohm atty and a kick in it get momentarily overheated? I guess so if the kick flaked out (?) I say momentarily because I've never felt any significant heat while in use.

Of course it could. You have a chain that needs to be in order, but with one "link" compromised (i.e. things that will expose a hard short) things get hot real fast. That spring is tougher than solder, so if that reaction happened...

That's debatable I suppose. It's not seated properly, but it's functioning till I get a replacement. I pulled it out of the mounting hole and reversed it so I have some proper spring sticking out. But the collapsed end doesn't get very far into the mount. It's the spring in the base cap and I've got it mounted against the switch housing.. From there I don't need to move it.. The #23 is designed so you can move the switch from one end to the other as you prefer, but with it at the base that spring never needs to twist and only compresses a little.

Mod type?
Battery type?
E-liquid Device Type?
Ohms load?

My Sigelei Kick Clones work flawlessly in my KST mods. Don't work worth a crap in my Sigelei Mod - Poor Ground Contact.

Haven"t had time to work on it. Logic dictates - Shrink Wrap to increase size, sand inside of Sigelei to get to clean metal. Sand Clean upper/lower kick contacts and Ground pin.

I gave up on all kick type devices lol first one i boight died in 3 weeks the replacement they sent died as in got stuck on the lowest wattage and will not adjust anymore no matter how much you turn the screw.

Thease things are like tempermental preteen girls. . . Any amount of hard work causes them to break down. Lol

they work well with a bolt and carto tank or clearo combo but realy that is all they are good for one short or a low ohm or dual coil and its done. Waste of money in my opinion
if i want a regulated vape i would use a regulated mod but i use a mechanical for the sole porpouse of the unregulated powerful vape and the kickjust gets in the way of that power or shrts out and breaks down

Don't forget to lengthen the tube to allow room for the Kick.
If it won't fit in the top, remove the battery, insert the Kick from the bottom followed by the battery.

Not sure I understand your point unless you're asking what I was using when it stopped working. As indicated above I really don't know when It stopped working. Currently it doesn't want to work in anything... KTS Storm, Sig #23, AW IMR 18350-490, Vapeonly BCC, Protank, 2-2.5ohm.

Ya, mine I even had to file down the edges to get it in the KTS. In the #23 it fits like a marble in a fishbowl. One reason I probabl didn't notice it was dead earlier is that I really enjoy the KTS in ultra-compact 350 mode. I haven't used the kick in it in a while. And in the 23 I jus figured I was having trouble making the side pin contact. Never worked at it very hard.

Haven"t had time to work on it. Logic dictates - Shrink Wrap to increase size, sand inside of Sigelei to get to clean metal. Sand Clean upper/lower kick contacts and Ground pin.

I've cleaned , filed the kick contacts.
