I have two answers because some horror I just like and some horror I like because it scares the you-know-what outta me.

Scariest Movie - The Ring
I was so afraid to go to sleep after this movie. I guess I shouldn't have watched it while staying at a cabin in the woods either.

Favorite Horror Movie Ever - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The Original)
Hooper's use of camera angles and shooting with a sort of ADD was what made this my forever fave.

You mean I have to pick just one?? Impossible. I say. There are so many sub-genres - slasher, gross out, psychological horror. monster movies, ghost stories, the list goes on.

I thought The Blair Witch Project was dumb when I saw it, but I was freaked for days afterwords, so it is in my top 20.

How can anyone not love Freddy movies?

Bruce Campbell - enough said.

Christopher Lee - ditto.

Anything with Vincent Price. I love him so much I named my first son after him.

The Uninvited (1944) was very good. So was The Others (2001)

The Night of the Living Dead (1968) is a classic, and for good reason.

Silence of the Lambs was great, but not as good as the book. All the sequels sucked, though (except Hannibal Rising)

John Carpenter's The Thing was both gross and scary.

The Wicker Man (1973) 102 minute version - NOT the 87 minute cut!! - is one of my all time favorites, but I don't consider it a horror movie - more "religious studies".

And that is just off the top of my head.

You can pick as many as you want, I'm not a thread nazi. You hit a bunch of my favorites. The Wicker man is sooooo twisted. I love spook movies.

Another Stephen King favorite is Salems Lot. the original. When the kid hero's now vampire friend was knocking/scraping on the window it freaked me out. I was very young at the time. The movie was on TV, my grandfathers old black and white RCA at about midnight. Me and my cousins stayed up and watched it and afterwords ran through the cornfields to reach the woods. Not one of us made it more that about a hundred feet into the woods, it was foggy and only a little bit of a moon was out. It was so cool running through 80 acres of cornfields back to the farmhouse scaring the heck out of each other.

American Psycho. Book also better than the movie, though. My GF, who is not a big fan of the genre, will never see Christian Bale the same after the role as Patrick Bateman.

Yahh, yet another twisted movie. Seriously twisted book. The movie would have had to have been 8 hours long to put in all the sick things that mother did! To cap it off he gets away with it, yuppy serial killers rule.:toast:

-Suspiria - 70's Italian horror movie with the eeriest music ever.
-Jaws - scarred me for life
-Creepshow (also scarred me for life, especially the zombie sand one)
-Halloween
-Event Horizon
-The Ring - the first part when you saw the girl in the closet gave me nightmares
-cheesy 80s ones like Prom Night, Sleepaway Camp, April Fool's, Witchboard,
-Texas Chainsaw Massacre (obviously)
-always like J-horror like Tomie, One Missed Call, Ringu, Dark Water. I saw one on cable a while ago and I wish I knew the name of it. It was a 70s or 80s one that was the wackiest movie.

Ok, just did some research and found it. If you like weird stuff like I do, this is for you:

Gwar... the good old days. The Salaminizer and Have You Seen Me will always be in my favorites category. :D

Back on track... The Friday the 13th movies.. before Jason takes Manhattan.

Will always love the one where the hillbilly was riding his motorcycle yelling to his mamma and Jason stuck that machete out there and decapitated him. LOL. Think it was part 4 or 5. Classic!!!

The grudge was creepy too. I have all of the sleepaway Camp movies. In fact I like all of your picks.

I should have added what is your favorite scene.

Poltergeist, were the dude rips his face off in the mirror after eating the chicken. That was messed up.

YouTube - Poltergeist - Steak, chicken, maggots and a ripped face!

My older sister and her best friend took me to see this movie when it first came out, I think I was twelve. I snuck downstairs super slow and crawled along the floor to the tv. I switched it to an open channel turned the volume all the way up and flipped it on. They chased me down and boxed me upside the ears but it was so worth it.

I'm thinking you might be my long lost little sister or something, lol. Great list and I thought I was the only one who saw Suspiria!

Oh yeah, that was gross! Funny, when I was young, I would stay up late at night and watch scary movies by myself. I think they scare me more now that I'm older and I know that crap can really happen! In high school, we would always rent the Faces of Death movies and get freaked out. I know some of the stuff on there is real, but wonder if some of it is fake - probably.

I'm trying to remember a movie from the 80s. It's about pilgrims, and all I remember is this monster coming up from the ground with leaves around it. Anyone know?

I always wanted to see the original Black Christmas. I know the remake probably sucked, they usually do. And they're redoing Nightmare On Elm Street, really?

Oh, and It. Pennywise was freaky, although I don't see how people are scared of clowns. Oh, I vaguely remember being scared by C.H.U.D.

Funny! I don't have anyone to watch scary movies with :(. My husband hates them, pretty much, but I gotta sit through Back To School a million times!
