What's your favorite Horror movie.

I personally LOVE horrer Movies.. When I was growing up, my Brother would come home from work on Friday nights when thriller chiller (or ciller thriller) was on and playing the old movies.
Warewolf, Frankenstein, Mummy, Count Dracular, ect..

But I only became afraid after the movie as he waited until they were over to turn off the main power in the house and scare me..My other Brother knew this and he hammed it up.. Just to scare me. I was 8 thru 10 then..

But I really got scared from the original Nightmare on Elm Street. This movie was rented when it came out on DVD by my roommate and I worked the 3rd shift for a metal fab comp.
Well, I seen this sitting on the coffee table, had a 6 pk of Heinies and put the movie in. It was 4am and humid out (this was in August) and I was 23 @ the time. As the movie goes on playing and my mind playing tricks on me from the noises outside (I had the front door open) I was scared and jumpy. LMAO..
I couldn't believe how that movie got to me..

You seemed to have already mentioned mine, Hitcher, Rosemary's Baby,(yep, never having sex with satan)

Another scary one. Rosemary's Baby is definitely worthy of mention here.

And I don't think it's been thrown out yet, but in spite of some dated effects by todays standards, Poltergiest was pretty good. Just caught some of it on AMC the other day. Better than I had remembered.

But I wanted to ask if anyone has seen Centipede, or is it Human Centipede? DH wants to buy the bluray of this and the trailers look gross/scary, but I wonder if it's worth the actual purchase.

I heard about this movie from my film-geek coworker. Sounds absolutely atrocious and I'm not sure I WANT to watch it, based on the premise. Although I will say, it's good to hear about some ORIGINAL horror for a change.

Another movie just crossed my mind - "Faces of Death". It was one of those movies that I always passed on, even after I was well into horror. It wasn't until a few years ago that I actually watched it. AFTER I learned that 90% of the footage shown is just fakery.

Dude, we would watch the Faces of Death movies in "high" school. Talk about tripping you out! I always wondered what parts were fake. I remember hmmm, people beating a monkey on the head with a mallet (weird), a dude that was supposedly on PCP that jumped out a window or something, some people cave diving and drowning because they couldn't find their way out, and I can't really remember what else.

I did watch "Let the Right One In" last weekend and it was different. Kind of boring, but not bad. Best part was when the dude's head fell in the swimming pool.

let the right one in was boring. few fight scenes were ok, but the rest was meh.

The thing I liked about "Let the Right One In" is that it's all about payoff. It moves slow, more a drama than a horror, but that final scene, where she lays waste at the pool... priceless.

Then again, I was always the picked-on kid. Perhaps a bit of projection fantasy? It's still proof positive that the "vampire as protecter" theme doesn't have to equal "Twilight".

There's another vampire flick out called "Thirst". It's about a minister who becomes a vampire through no fault of his own. I've taken to calling it "Let the Wrong One In".

redgirl, how many Faces of Death movies did you see? I remember seeing quite a few of them,(I guess I'm sick like that) and one will haunt me forever. It was a guy who was being tried for rape and murder.(I forget how many women) He actually video taped his crimes, so they played them in court. There was a camera in the court room and the 1st scene is his face as he watches his own tapes. (icky, icky, icky, he was smiling and lets just say you could tell he was enjoying the show) Then they show the actual tape. EWWWWW, it's one of those things you want to erase from your brain and can't.

I also remember someone in the government that was in some kind of trouble. He came back from a lunch break (with a paper bag in his hands) pulled out a gun and killed himself. This was all aired on live TV at the time. He shot himself in the head but you can see in his eyes that there are a few seconds that he is still alive before the brain actually stops working. (KWIM, he seems aware of everyone while he is on the floor for a few seconds.) Wasn't it one of King Henry's wives that when beheaded either blinked 15 times or was blushing because of what the crowd was saying, it was that same thing.

I do remember seeing the one about the ....../murderer. I watched quite a few of them, too (grew up in Montana and not much else to do!). I don't remember what was on the tapes. It was probably so disturbing I think I actually did manage to erase it from my mind!

I don't know why I watch so many of those movies. The people I would hang around with all like horror movies and if there was nothing else to watch it was kind like hey lets see another Faces of Death. I know I shouldn't but I still like horror movies, and just weird disturbing stuff like that. I think it's HBO that used to have a show that explained weird situations that people died in. (hosted by a coroner) I'm also the type that would love to see that exhibit The Bodies. Just don't let my kids know that I'm sick like that, lol, I'm "The Mom" now.
