Im interested to see what methods work best. Some blow out the primer and some dont, some just pop a cart or drip tip on and vape away, but whats YOUR method?

As we all know, some atties just start off with a nice big "POP" and your on your way, but what do you do with the stiff ones that have little to no air flow? I noticed that some start off great until you put juice in them and they seem to always flood, so whats your fix?

Lets hear it.

Depends on the atty, I've burned a few just dripping 2-3 drops on it. So right now, if it's a 510 atty, I blow it out and then drip 6 drops, it'll flood, but doesn't leak, then I just vape it til it's done being flooded and use it like normal.

If it's a cisco 306 LR atty I put 9 drops on it, vape it really slowly and top it up after a few hauls on it, and keep it flooded for a bit to make sure I'm not going to burn it (as I have done to a few already) and then vape it like normal, topping up with 3-4 drops when I notice it losing flavor.

I`ll either blow out the primer and put a new cart on (a year in and still using PTB) and start off nice and slooooow, or I vape the primer out with no cart and then drip a few drops to get it going again.

Still cant find a fix for those stiff atties though. Any suggestions on how to loosen up a tighty? (no "thats what she said jokes please, Im a fan of the office too ya know)

I blow out the primer than drip 6 drops, wait a couple minutes, and vape away!

I would also love to find our how to "loosen up a tighty"! Got 3 with my last batch of 20 and they just heat up way too much because of the lack of air flow and taste burnt all the time no matter how much juice I put in 'em.

I know what you mean Yeti, some 510 atties are just junk from the get go it seems, I would LOVE to find a way to loosen them. As I mentioned before, it does not matter what you do with some of these, they flood right away.

I think QC should do more than just see if it fires when screwed on a batt, there needs to be more effort put into air flow issues as well because a stiff atty is just as good as a DOA in my opinion.

Thanks for all the input :)

Switched, whats your fix for a "tighty"?

Just got a new batch and considering how well a vodka soak works for removing any juices and flavors, I think I'll try that to remove any primer fluid. I've had some that had really nasty tasting primer fluid, the only way to get rid of it was to vape a bunch of menthol then switch to whatever juice I wanted to vape. It would take about 5ml for the menthol to disappear but at least I didnt have to put up with the disgusting primer fluid taste.

In true Indian fashion (the curry eating kind, not the tomahawk weilding kind) I light a fire, put a red dot on my forehead.. wait, I'm Catholic, right.. I go to church, drink some wine, beg God's forgiveness before firing it up... What?! You did say ritual didn't you?

Seriously though, I just blow out the primer and am good to go. Carto's on the other hand, go into an Isopropyl soak, followed by a water rinse, dry overnight, dry-burn, load and go.

It never occurred to me to do anything, until these threads and the eGO atomizers.

For the 510’s from personal use, 3 drops down and a full cart was always good for me. I didn’t worry about the primer. I always vape tobacco flavor so to me that overpowered any primer. Always got full vape from the start.

The eGO atomizers seem to be a bear to get going. Very little vape to start, almost as if 3 drops flooded them, however that can’t be because they can take 3 drops once worked in no problem. I just suffered pulling on it until they start to vape. Also, although after that, they do vape well, I find they are even better after a whole week.

Dunno… Has anyone solved the mistory of getting an eGO atomizer going 1st fill?

I take all my new attys (and E2 cartos) and do a 10-15 min Vodka soak.
Rinse with HOT water.
Steam clean with hand held shark steam cleaner. Be sure to hit it from all directions. "get up in its business" so to speak :)
Blow out with compressed air.

Enjoy. After this they all start out exactly the same for me. Smooth tasting and perfect hitting.
It eliminates the "some vape better than others" syndrome. Unless its DOA.

For 510 and 801 attys and cartos (and E2) I always boil first. If there is even a hint of solder flux or metal protectant residue (and worst still any "primer") I'll taste it and it will ruin my taste buds for hours. Then Sling them, blow out well, let dry in front of Notebook exhaust, if cartos and E2s, for several hours. If attys the resurrection style dry burning until no smell or vapor comes off them. Then store all clean ones in a small sealed container with white rice to keep them drying more, if needed, and to keep dry.

Before using a few drops of juice on them then sit for a few minutes so wick can get fully wet. Don't in hale first few draws. I'm still using cartos and attys that are over two months old. Clean and rotate frequently.

I haven't lost one yet, except some of the cartos' stuffing are getting long in the tooth. I fluff them with a sewing needle. A few of the 2+ month old cartos are about to be retired and put in drawer for emergency use; stored clean in rice container.
