I have always said that smoking while i drink is something that i may not be able to get over as i do enjoy it....Tonight will be my first night of drinking since i quit 5 days ago. Haven't had one since i started but im considering having a couple tonight. If i could guarantee that i would be able to smoke tonight and not crave a cig tomarro i would even be asking the question but just curious if any other people are in the same boat.

Im bringing out my e-cig with me and plan to use it almost exclusively. Im not buying a pack just gonna steal a few off my mates so wont have any left over tomarro to tempt me. Was in a room with 3 people smoking last night and have to say i did have a minor craving....Tonight im in a room with about 10 people and i will be drinking so struggling a bit with the idea.

My plan has always been to give it a week or 2 to get used to the taste etc of my e-cig and then to try a smoke while drinking. Im hoping that i actually don't like the taste of them after vaping as that's what a lot of people have said on the forums.

Planning on switching to some strong e-liquid to reduce the urge to have a smoke but that only goes so far :S

Any advice ?

Your results may vary but I find my PV satisfies me just fine when drinking, I do tend to vape tobacco juices when I drink though for that very reason, because I, like you love to have a smoke and a beer :D If you feel you ABSOLUTELY have to have a cigarette, then have one, don't beat yourself up about it. Like most people, you may find that you actually don't care for the taste of a cigarette, even with a drink.

Do you use a tobacco flavor? If so try and get some with a little extra nic it'll help with the crave. Are you going to a friends place? Sometimes it takes walking out of the room for a second to get some fresh air. have fun! relax enjoy your time with your friends and don't focus on the cigarette.
Most vapors like vaping for the act of vaping most never really wanted to quit smoking BUT they did. Are you lacking anything in your vape? (TH, taste, Vapor production)

Hey Justin - after a drink or two I have a hard time saying no ..... to cigarettes :toast: but once I was analog-free for a week or so I found that having even a half of one gave me a sore throat and a wicked headache, not to mention kicking my cravings back into high gear. Yes, I did it a couple of times but figured out that it just wasn't worth it and having to reset my quit date each time was a real bummer.

I'm 41 days smoke-free and still have some pretty strong cravings though not everyday. When they come I drink some water, vape till I'm almost green and they go away. :vapor: I was smoking 10 - 12 analogs/day when I quit and am doing pretty well on 18mg.

Good luck - you'll get there!

I was social smoking for years until i turned 20...Decided to start smoking...Like an idiot :p 1 year to the day i stopped and switched to vaping. To answer the above questions i starting vaping to quit smoking but my intention was always to continue to social smoke as i did for years before. I am just afraid to try.....I think i will try a couple tonight and see how that affects my cravings....Its only been 5 days and to be honest i have not bad a bad craving for a smoke since i started so im hoping the next morning im back to normal with no harm done...Well a bit of harm but you no what i mean :p

Also because ive only been smoking properly for a year i don't think i have developed as much of an addiction as those smoking for 20+ years, at least that's my thinking, maybe addiction doesn't work that way. The only time i have a major craving is when i drink or after having a large meal so if i can just indulge my craving on a night out maybe that would do me more good than bad. Still hoping to pick one up and not enjoy it but we will see :)

This is pretty sound advice, something similar to what I was going to suggest. I guess I was one of the 'lucky' ones, even after 31 years of smoking, once I got my eGo gear, I've had zero cravings. Zip, zilch, nada. Cigalikes, on the other hand.... :vapor:

I was so confused for a minute. I posted on the EXACT same thread started by someone else.
I kept looking wondering wth happened to my post.

When I finally kicked analogs I had a huge fear that I would fall into this trap. Go out for a few drinks and end up hitting the analogs.
Since I really had no call to go out drinking often, I just kind of avoided it all together for about 3 years. Then last month I started going out again. The very first night I was out drinking someone gave me their cigarette, when it got close to my face the smell made me feel like i was going to get sick. I think I took half a puff and couldn't get back to my drink and pv fast enough.
I will tell you though, vaping twinky while drinking a good lager. Not so good.

yeah i can't quite resist a smoke when i'm drinking. the last outing i had this past weekend, the gals were vaping on my vamo more so than they were smoking. went through batteries and a had to refill the tank at the bar. interesting looks are caught pulling the syringed bottle out of the pocket.
i did bum some smokes off of friends but i didn't beat myself up about it. after the nose and tongue buds have returned, each time i have a smoke it sort of serves as a better reminder of how pleased i am i ditched it as a habit. tastes foul nowadays, even if the act of smoking the "analog" is appealing.

go vamo!

Justin, I smoked for 21 years, habitually 1 PAD. When i started vaping, I hadn't really been interested in quitting cigarettes, in all those years I never tried to quit. I loved smoking!
I have cravings once in a great while, mainly when I go to bars that allow smoking (because i was so bummed when they passed the law, drinking and smoking go hand in hand), but I haven't had an analog in almost 4 months now. Be strong. The cravings will pass. With me, I think that if I had a cigarette after all this time, I would be disappointed in myself. That's just because its been so long for me now and I'm so proud to have finally kicked the habit! ::patting myself on the back:: :)
I also take extra batteries and such with me so my friends can use them, which they do. :)
Find some juices that you like the taste of when you're drinking. That'll help. I usually have fruity flavors (I fell out of love with my tobacco flavors) but just recently got a glass tank and lemon Vape for when I'm drinking beer. Yumm!
Good Luck!!

The biggest thing for me was I always craved a cig AFTER I ate. I've found now that I crave vaping after eating and while having a drink.

Like several people posted - try to find a juice that works for you. I like to have big vapor production after I eat/while I drink as that helps alleviate my cravings. And different juices/flavors do that for me.

Good luck!

Thought i would give you guys an update. Sat quietly in a smoky room for 2 hours wasn't really enjoying my drink because everyone was smoking and i had my worst craving yet. I put it off for another hour or so and then said screw it. Had my first smoke in 5 days and i really didn't like the taste that much but i loved the warm throat hit. Throughout the night i had another 4. Seeing as on a night out i usually go through a 20 pack im quite pleased with the result. Best of all i haven't had the craving for a real one all day so very pleased. As ive said before if i can have a smoke on a night out and not crave them the next day i really don't see the downside.

Seeing as i really didn't like the taste and it made me feel a wee bit sick i could see myself eventually turning down a smoke for a vape which would be excellent. For right now though im very pleased.

For those wondering why i gave in, in the end its simple. My house is opposite a 24/7 garage and i can almost guarantee if i would have refused a smoke while i was sober i would have stopped at the shop on the way home and got myself a pack. Then i would have had some left over this morning. If i had a packet of smokes in front of me....even when sober im pretty sure i would smoke em. In the long run i think this went well.

Im not starting my quitting clock again as far as im concerned im still off the smokes 6 days now....At this point i would have went through 120 smokes instead ive went through 5 so that's a big improvement. Someone said count the ones you don't smoke not the ones you do and i have to say that's a brilliant idea.

On a bonus note i got a kit with spares which i was able to make 2 e-cigs out of. My mum for 30 odd years smoking has now been off them 2 days....Also someone said get some tobacco tasting ones to make it easier but i smoke menthol so my menthol e-liquid suits me down to the ground. Also got some Chocolate, Coffee and Cola 30ml to try out pretty sure chocolate wont be that nice but still worth a try :p

Thanks for all the advice guys on equipment etc. It really makes a lot of difference to no the forums here for any questions or problems i am.
