When a cart is really unusable? When the sides burn? When the fit is not snug?

I’ve noticed that sometimes I melt the sides of my cartridges, yeah, I’m a long drag person. Other times, I can reuse the cartridge many times. But… when enough is enough?
New carts fit snug in the atty while old ones not always do. I am guessing that the fit is really important to avoid leaking and more vapor production. Is this statement right? Or it is only leaking or only smoke or any other reason?

I know many will say not to worry about it since carts are very cheap… I agree but I’m worry when I’m on the go with just one or two carts and one gets unusable… Is there a method to “salvage” the cart at least for the rest of the day?

Please experts, share some light about carts in general. I’m using a 510 (soon to get a stick with whatever carts it uses). I use the blue stuffing, PTB mod and retail filling finding that for carrying PTB leaks more than the others, the blue filling works better when topped up and the retail filling keeps less juice but it’s “ready to use” any time (say, when you prepare your carts at night and use one about 10 am next morning).

Thoughts and tips are welcome. Thanks.

Hi JF,

(1) I’ve noticed that sometimes I melt the sides of my cartridges, yeah, I’m a long drag person. Other times, I can reuse the cartridge many times. But… when enough is enough?

Enough is enough when the cartridge will no long wick and hold e-liquid.

(2) New carts fit snug in the atty while old ones not always do. I am guessing that the fit is really important to avoid leaking and more vapor production. Is this statement right? Or it is only leaking or only smoke or any other reason?

There is a variation in cartidge size from one to the other sometimes, but I have found them to be pretty consistant. Actually I have found atomizers to have more of a hole size variation then anything the cartridges. Leaking is more of a function of the wicking material being able to hold the e-liquid and not overfilling then the cartridge fit. The fit of that cartridge should slide in just tight enough not to fall out.

I know many will say not to worry about it since carts are very cheap… I agree but I’m worry when I’m on the go with just one or two carts and one gets unusable… Is there a method to “salvage” the cart at least for the rest of the day?

Should this happen, which it often does, just drip right on into the atomizer. Two drops at a time for a 510. This will not hurt the atomizer at all (I stopped using cartridges a year ago as I simply see no point in them. Dripping is much more effective, gives a better hit, and does not waste e-liquid like cartridges on IMO.

I do hope that helps.
