When do you call it quits, and how long before you do?

I started vaping about 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it. Well, that is what I can taste of it. I ordered a ton of juice samples from a few different vendors. So far I only seem to really taste the tobacco, dark fruits (blueberry, cherry, mixed berries) and black licorice. I can't seem to taste any subtle flavors like sweet almond, coconut or butterscotch. I have an apple pie that is just disgusting, but I'm going to attribute that to the juice and not a lack of being able to taste it. Key lime, sweet orange and tangerine are very faint, but what I am getting is very astringent. I can't even pick up the subtleties of the 555, RY4 and RY5 I have. I just tast the tabacco. I did have a cappuccino that was good, but too subtle.

I guess I can live with the blueberry (my favorite), with cherry and mixed berry thrown in for some variety, and the black licorice is fantastic though way too strong for vaping all day. I guess I'm just a little disappointed. There are so many fantastic sounding flavors that I'm dying to try, but almost all of the ones I've tried so far are falling totally flat. I'm starting to think that I should just give it up and be happy with the 3 or 4 juices that I've found that I like. I'm spending a small fortune chasing after this elusive "all day vape". Why is it that I can't accept that blueberry is the winner and just call it quits?

Anyone else have this trouble? Have you found your all day vape, or are you still searching even though you suspect it might be right under your nose? If you found your keeper, how long did it take and how much juice did you have to go through before you found it?

it's taken me 3 months, & i think maybe, possibly i've found my all day vapes.
I've spent more than a grand, gave away the majority of my juice on PIF & still hope that I have truly found it.
to me..........an all day vape is one that you can't even lay down your PV.

BTW, love your Avatar. i've got a 1/4 mile mustang, & one that is street legal. Nothing like a fine stang!!

It may take some more time before your taste buds start working good again. Some of the juices might need to steep a little longer too. Try them out again every week or so and you might be surprised. You could also try adding a small amount of sweetener like sucralose to help bring the flavor out more.

I was able to find a flavor I could vape all day right away. I knew I would need something with a good kick to it if I was going to quit the habit so I got some Atomic Cinnacide as recommended by other ECFers and I was happy with it for a good while. Then I started trying some other flavors and found German Chocolate Cake (GCC) which I fell in love with. I'm very satisfied with it but have been trying other flavors recently just for fun :)

It may also be the carto you're using. Some carto's just don't taste as good as others. For example, my GCC never tasted that great out of a KR808D-1 carto but it tastes fantastic with a CE2 or when I drip.

I'm using a GoGo and some automatic 808s. I just ordered a 901 with an atomizer and a drip tip, so at least I can test out juice now without wasting a cartomizer. I tried dripping by pulling out the filler in one of the cartos, but it just wasn't working. Probably did it wrong, but I figured I'd get the manual 901 anyway so I didn't mess up my auto batteries.

there certainly is such a thing as an "all day vape"...and maybe even an "all week vape" but after that your mind wants to look for other flavors. i think its like food, you can only take so much of something, even if its really good at first. its not abnormal to switch often. i think the term all day vape consists more than 1 liquid.....corrently i have 4 or 5 all days vapes...meaning i could vape a particular flavor all day long...... but i dont.

Thanks! My stepson races stangs, he's at some outrageous hp now and definitely NOT street legal - owns a speed shop in Jersey. My husband tried to race mine. Thank goodness it's manual and he couldn't get a good start off the line. I don't need him dropping the tranny and needing a tow home! I'd love a 2011 at 400+ hp, but I just can give up my grabber orange. Course you could always entice me with a cobra, in any color.

Mustang, don't give up. As has been mentioned, your taste buds will probably recover more over time. And what you like one day, you may not the next. And vice versa. I have a real hard time finding juices w/ enough flavor for me (I've been vaping 9 months). One of the main reasons I have got into DIY lately. But I've made a really strong espresso, vaping it on a Buzz in a dual carto, and it is fabulous! If you don't want to (or aren't ready to) get into DIY, order extra flavoring in your juice if the vendor offers it as an option. And play around w/ different attys and cartos. I also agree w/ fray (above) that using high voltage really makes a difference. Good luck! And don't give up!! It just takes some of us longer to find our "sweet spot" than others.

Hey Mustang,
I know exactly where you're coming from! I started having flavor issues when I mixed my juices. I guess it's just a matter of finding compliments. I use to be a menthol analog smoker, but FreedomSmokeUSA's Cherry Black and Cappuccino Smooth are growing on me. Chocolate Strawberry isn't so bad either, but I have it in a 30ml and use it for the nic boost.

So my suggestion is to use dedicated cartos and top off frequently, especially if you're starting with blanks.

@MustangSally

When I first started vaping, it was the fruit flavors that really appealed to me. Umm, that peach was good. Loved the strawberry, cherry was delicious, Apple was good.

After a few weeks tho, it seemed as if all the fruits were losing their flavor. I started ordering samples of different tobacco flavors from different vendors.

I still haven't found the one single all day vape. But I have 4 different all day vapes. I load up 4 cartos every day, a different juice in each one. With 4 Egos going, I just keep rotating thru them, one drag at a time.

That seems to keep me from getting jaded on any one juice. What juices am I using you ask?

All from FSUSA. American Spirit, Freedom Smoke, 555, and Pure Cig.

I think switching from attys to cartomizers was also a big improvement in flavor and vapor and consistency.

When I started vaping I was so looking forward to the great variety of flavors I was going to be able to vape, unfortunately alot of the vendors juices I tried were just not strong enough to my taste and I found that they were weak as well. To my sadness, I don't like alot of the fruit flavors-- but love coffee, tobaccos and other rich, strong flavors. My solution was DIY exclusively, it gives you so much more control and saves a ton of money. Some of my all day vapes are kahlua and cream (vapor renu flavor extract), MaxB Ultimate (Ecigexpress, Flavourart), Caramel Cappacino (the perfumer's apprentice), Coffee Expresso (ecigexpress, flavourart). Those are my main all day vapes, but some other strong flavors I would recommend are dark vapure (flavourart), cinammon red hots (Vapor Renu, perfumers apprentice), french toast (capella's flavor drops), liquid amber (flavourart) seven leaves (flavorart) creamy coconut (vapor renu) Double dutch chocolate (vapor renu-though not so strong, it's a good base for mixing) Chocolate Fudge Brownie (Capellas).... Of all of those I would use the MaxB as an all day vape, but I like the variety.

I have and continue to go back to the same two I started with, a vanilla and a toasted almond, both can be mixed with pretty much everything. I have a few others that I vape on occasion, but they are the main choices and I do my own so I control flavor and strength at will. Good luck finding what works for you. Your taste buds will change many times over the course of your adventure with vaping, but they always come back. So don't be disappointed when it doesn't taste exactly as it did the week before, sometimes they need to sit a bit, sometimes they are good right from the get go. Changing PV's help, so if you're into mods and such that may be an alternative, I use atty's, carto's, tanks etc, I drip mostly for the best flavor and use the carto's for when I'm in the car, Boge soft tip 2.0 and 3.0 depending on the juice I'm using, 306's for dripping. Good Luck finding what works, it's a learning curve that will continue and the goal always remains finding that place where it's all ok, even if it's only for a little bit.
